Sunflowers and Success!

We are bursting with pride for our client. A massive shout-out to our wonderful carer, Fiona, for her dedication and encouragement. Fiona noticed her client's interest and encouraged her to take part in a local sunflower competition! Thanks to Fiona's support, our client nurtured her plant every step of the way, and all that hard work paid off! We are thrilled to share that she won a Certificate of Achievement for growing the 3rd Tallest Sunflower in the competition! 🎉

❄️ Getting Ready for Winter with Willows Home Care 🧣
As the nights get darker and the weather turns colder, ensuring our clients are happy and safe is our top priority! Winter can bring unique challenges, but with a little preparation, we can make the season cozy and secure.

Here are a few ways we're focusing on client well-being as winter approaches:

Illumination and Safety: Darker evenings mean a higher risk of trips and falls. Our caregivers are extra vigilant, ensuring hallways are well-lit, and we're reminding clients (and their families!) to check that outdoor lights and walkways are clear and bright.

Warmth and Comfort: Cold weather is a serious health risk. We're making sure clients are dressed warmly (layers are key!) and that their homes are adequately heated. We help with tasks like setting thermostats, adjusting timers, and ensuring windows/doors are closed to minimize drafts.

Preventing "Winter Blues": Shorter days and less sunlight can sometimes affect mood. Our visits become even more important for providing social connection, stimulating conversation, and encouraging light exercise indoors or creative activities to keep spirits high!

What a fantastic time we're having at Willows Home Care! Our clients have been enjoying some wonderful outings lately, celebrating birthdays and making special memories. We love to introduce our clients to our beautiful donkey friends and find out who the true dominoes champion is! We've also enjoyed delicious cake at local cafes, including a stop at the Blue Flamingo Cafe, and taken lovely walks along the docks.
​It's truly a joy to spend time together, talking about family and sharing stories. These moments make our days so memorable!

What a well-deserved night out for some of our incredible Willows Home Care team! ✨ It was so lovely to get together, share some laughs, and enjoy each other's company outside of work.

A huge shout-out to our amazing staff who were still busy caring for our clients during the night – your dedication never goes unnoticed, and your turn for a night out is coming very soon!

In home care, we often work independently, so these team gatherings are truly invaluable. It's such a rewarding job, and connecting as a team makes it even more special. Here's to more team nights in the future!

At Willows Home Care, we believe that looking after the small things can make the biggest difference. One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to support wellbeing—especially in warmer weather—is staying hydrated.
As we age, our sense of thirst can decrease, making dehydration a greater risk. That’s why our carers gently encourage regular sips throughout the day. Our team make sure that each of our clients are left with a glass of water or a drink of their choice.

One of our carers had the pleasure of spending the day with this lovely young lady 😊.

Today, on Father’s Day, we pause to celebrate the incredible dads and father figures who shape our lives with strength, wisdom, and love.

At Willows Care Home, we share in the joy of the fathers among us, whose stories and smiles brighten our days. We also carry in our hearts the cherished memories of those we've lost, including the many we have loved and continue to care for who live with dementia. Though memory may fade, the love they’ve given and the roles they’ve played in our lives remain ever-present.

To the fathers past, present, and those whose presence is felt in spirit—you are remembered, you are loved, and you are celebrated.
