Question….Would you come to a retreat on your own?
I did ☀️
My first yoga retreat was to Ibiza in 2018 (here are some pics). I didn’t know a single person. I remember feeling nervous, excited, and wondering if I’d made the right decision.
I left with friends for life. Laura, Lou, Karen, Jules, Louise amazing women that I still see and speak to all the time 🧡
It’s hard to put into words how much that retreat gave me, friendship, confidence, strength, space, laughter, rest. A remembering of myself.
At the time, I had a senior role in the NHS and a private psychotherapy practice. I was exhausted. I needed a break from constantly holding everyone else.
Yes, I left my husband and children at home and my fur baby 🐶 Winston 🤍
And no, I didn’t feel guilty.
I needed it.
I didn’t know this at the time, but I needed to be with women in a loving, supportive space. No competition. No judgement. Just connection. Joy 🥰
I needed time to read, to journal, to sunbathe, to chat, to breathe.
And I got all of that and more.
Funny enough, the thing I was MOST worried about was the food 😂
It was my first time eating vegetarian food and I genuinely thought… what if I don’t like it and everyone thinks I’m weird for not being veggie?!
OMG. The food was incredible. Retreat chefs seriously know what they’re doing.
So if you’re unsure, a little scared, wondering whether to come alone… I promise you, it might just be one of the best things you ever do.
