Yoga Life Skills ❤️
Abhyasa: Consistent effort towards mental tranquility, stability, and self-mastery✨

Practicing Abhyasa in daily life shows up in keeping-up the effort towards freeing ourselves from unhelpful habits and reactions, whether that be patterns of thinking, speaking or acting.

Returning to the mat again and again on the schedule we've committed to, practicing the Asana we find difficult as well as the Asana we find easy - working to stay out of judgement and resistance.

✨Witnessing and steadying the mind
✨Witnessing and steadying the breath
✨Witnessing and steadying the body
🙏Overall balancing the nervous system.

Not seeking perfection, seeking presence ☺️

In Ashtanga Yoga we practice the same sequence each time we return to the mat and we do so with Abyhasa, which strengthens our ability to practice this steady effort in life

👇❤️ Caring for body, mind and relationships by living in line with the Yamas and Niyamas…moving, breathing, being present, pausing, reflecting, loving living in harmony as much as I’m able in each beautiful gifted moment…just that 🙌

I’m away until Thursday, spending time with my husband in the Welsh countryside, classes are covered, so I’ll see you all on Thursday lovely beings 💫

On the yoga mat we are practicing at life (as well as building physical, mental and emotional health)

Today was a beautiful example of how Tapas and Santosha together enable us to keep showing up for life. Here's how 👇

I was tired, not feeling well but got on my mat without attachment to a great practice and it felt great. I could have stayed on the sofa...but that NEVER feels as good as getting on the mat aaaaand getting on the mat builds tapas 🌟

Tapas discipline, commitment, or inner fire. It invites to have the discipline to keep showing up even when it's hard...today, like every weekday, I showed up on mat fully and that was possible because of the Tapas balanced with Santosha. Santosha is contentment, it enables us to do something without attachment to how easy or hard it feels, or perfect or imperfect.

When we balance Tapas with Santosha we can turn up for our yoga practice and our life whether tired, agitated, weak etc because we are ok with the practice feeling as it feels, with taking gentler options, with not binding etc.

Tapas balanced with Santosha enables a steady commitment to living life fully 🙏✨

Ashtanga Yoga is a breath-based practice. ☺️
To get to know ourselves we must know our breath
The breath indicates how safe, or threatened, or excited, or content we feel...and this feeling affects our muscle tone, balance of chemicals in our body, our heart rate, digestion, how we will sleep, our thoughts, our words, our actions...which creates our future ✨

Being present to our breath and harnessing the breath helps to create our future ✨
