Flu cases in hospitals have surged by 55% in the last week.

An average of 2,660 patients per day were in a hospital bed with flu last week. That’s enough flu patients each day to fill more than 3 whole hospital trusts.

The flu jab reduces your risk of becoming seriously ill this Christmas, and helps protect those around you.

We’d like to share a huge thank you to Terry McIntyre, who has made an incredibly generous donation to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust after receiving life-saving treatment at Royal Preston Hospital earlier this year 🙏🧡

Terry has donated £1,250 towards staff welfare projects, plus £3,750 to help us purchase new furniture for Bowland House - our on-site guest house that offers free accommodation to families who need to stay close to loved ones receiving hospital care.

During Terry’s three-week stay, his daughters Grainne and Rosie stayed at Bowland House throughout, and the support it provided during such a difficult time meant a great deal to the whole family. Grainne has also kindly set up a monthly standing order to support improvements to the facility moving forward🥰

We know this news will mean a lot to the Critical Care and Neurology teams who cared for Terry throughout his stay.

We are truly grateful for the family’s kindness, generosity, and appreciation of our staff and services.
