Job Vacancy: Roald Dahl Epilepsy Specialist Nurse for Children and Young People

We have an exciting opportunity to welcome a new addition to our Children's Community and Specialist Nursing Team.

As a Roald Dahl Specialist Nurse for Children and Young People with Epilepsy, you would be joining a team of experienced and forward-thinking colleagues.

The service provides advice, guidance and review to Children, Young people who have received a diagnosis of Epilepsy and their families within several settings. These could be within our busy general paediatric department where CYP are seen as an inpatient or outpatient within MDT held clinics/home visits/visits to their educational/childcare settings.

💷Band 6 - £38,682 - £46,580 per annum, pro rata
⌛Part time - 18.75 hours per week

We need a dedicated Electrician based at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital to join our team to help keep our hospital environment safe, operational and supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff, and visitors – day in, day out. No mean feat! We really mean it when we say no two days are the same – it’s a blend of planned maintenance coupled with emergency repairs and everything in between.

You will also work across some of our other hospitals sites too, so whilst primarily based at Chorley District General Hospital you will get out there to other sites at Royal Preston Hospital, Preston Business Centre and beyond.

🔁 6-week rotating shifts, that will involve Days, Evenings, Nights, and Weekends.

Volunteering Opportunity: Hospital Radio Manager 📻

We are looking for our new Station Manager!

We are so proud to be able to broadcast to our patients from our very own studio in the heart of Preston Hospital. This means we can update them on local news, play songs they like, arrange dedications from their loved ones and entertain them with the shows we plan and broadcast ourselves. We have a long history of broadcasting to patients starting way back in the early 50’s and we plan to continue doing just this.

Our studio is facilitated by a small band of dedicated volunteers. We have live broadcasts every day from the studio & also sport broadcasts from external venues, providing bedside entertainment for patients, music, news, sport and dedications. Our presenters all have their own shows offering a range of listening options for our patients.

This is a voluntary position but for the right person it will give you chance to help evolve our radio station, learning new skills/honing existing ones along the way and helping our station continue to thrive.

Job Vacancy: Decontamination Manager

Working behind the scenes of the hospital, there is a team of driven and meticulous individuals ensuring that all reusable surgical instrumentation is processed in line with current legislation ready to use in the next procedure.

In this environment safety is paramount, and the role demands a high level of competence and assured accountability. The team work following the ethos ‘It might be my relative on that operating table’, and so understandably strive to give their best all the time. The successful candidate will lead and manage all aspects of the Decontamination Service.

You will manage a team of 43 staff, including a Deputy Manager, two Assistant Managers, and six Team Leaders, overseeing a 24/7 service split into three shifts.

Your team will provide sterile services for both Preston and Chorley Theatres, supported by dedicated drivers operating Trust-owned logistics vehicles between the sites. A major aspect of your role involves ensuring continuous testing, maintenance, and documentation of all equipment and tools to uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance.
