Are you a man aged 65 or over? A quick 10-minute scan could save your life.

This Men’s Health Week (9–16 June), we’re raising awareness of a serious condition that often goes unnoticed: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).

As men get older, the main blood vessel in the abdomen can weaken and swell. This is called an AAA — a condition six times more common in men than women. It has no symptoms but can be life-threatening if it bursts. The only way to detect it is through screening.

When you turn 65, the NHS invites you for a simple, painless ultrasound scan. If you’re over 65 and haven’t been screened, you can book directly with the Lancashire and South Cumbria AAA Screening Programme on 0191 445 8747.
