About Us
Established in 2015, UMS (MedSoc) is the oldest society in the School of Medicine and is made by the students for the students. But we’re more than just a Society. We hope to create a community that celebrates and supports all our students through each aspect of their medical school journey. We’re here to look out for you, and to ensure you succeed in your chosen field as a well-rounded, passionate, and confidently equipped healthcare professional.
Through the Society, we undertake a range of programs to empower students through academics, peer mentorship, wellbeing management and community engagement. Our annual events include MedBall, Clans (peer mentorship), International Evening, Medical Freshers Fair, and Grad Dinner. We also produce some exclusive merch (peep our bags, tags, and hoodies) and handy academic guides to get you through every year. This year, we’ve established a Wellbeing team to also answer any of your wellbeing (ie. mental and physical health), welfare questions (ie. how to navigate your first lease, how to handle racism during placements etc), and to host Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity lectures.
