It's been a while since I've posted here! Being a mama to 3 has taken on a whole new level of business 🌀 I hope you've all had a wonderful summer and still managed to connect with nature between the downpours 💚🌿
In May I trained with the wonderful Mel, to become a Junior Herbalist leader. I'll be starting classes this coming Tuesday Lodge in Longridge, and I literally can not wait...so expect to see more of me as I share the journey with plants & the best kind of students, throughout the year. I have a class of 10+ students starting at 12.15pm and a class of 7-10 year olds starting at 2pm. There are still a few spaces, if anyone wants to deep dive into a fully immersive Junior Herbalist Club with me.
We make a mixed range of things. In week one, we focus on Lavender, so the children make lavender lemonade, lavender bags & lavender scented sugar. In week 3, we learn about acids & alkalis, pH scale & chemical reactions, then we make bath bombs. We also make infusions, oils, lip balms, creams, oxymels etc... We go out on a herb walk each session, to connect with nature and meet the plants growing that month.
The aim of JHC is to let children learn about the healing and medicinal plants all around them, in a safe & supervised environment, whilst covertly incorporating core subjects including English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Botany, Latin, Cookery, as well as helping children to gain in confidence, improve fine motor control and develop a new skill set. At the end of each session the children are given a worksheet to complete so they develop a portfolio of learning.
The course is also supported by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, and each child gets a certificate at the end of the year.
I am so excited for this new adventure. Get in touch if you'd like more info...
Green blessings, Zoé 💚🌿
