Wheels for All: Preston

This Thursday will be my last session at Preston Wheels for All.
I’ve absolutely loved being part of this amazing project — first as a team member since 2012, and more recently since taking over in November 2023. It’s been a real privilege to work alongside so many incredible carers, service users, volunteers, and supporters. I've learned so much from all of you.

From 3rd July, Stuart Lockton will be taking over the reins, and I know the project is in great hands. I’m moving into a new role as an advisor to the Wheels for All Board, so I’ll still be around — just in a different capacity.

Thank you all for the memories, the support, and the laughs. It’s been an absolute pleasure.

Please join us in welcoming Stuart Lockton. Stuart is the Wheels for All Coordinator for Kendal and will be attending sessions in Preston over the coming weeks. He’ll be taking over from Seán at the end of June, as Seán moves into a new role within Wheels for All.

Apologies for the short notice todays session is cancelled , UClan have decided that the track is not safe due to ice and frost.

Wheels for All is cancelled this week Thursday 21st due to snow, ice and very low temperatures.

Our final session for this year is 28th November.

We are looking forward to our reopening tomorrow. A few points. No vehicles are allowed on the cycle track. The car park and toilets are 200 M from our location.

We are pleased to announce that Wheels for All: Preston will restart sessions on Thursday, July 11th. We are now based at the running track at UClan Sports Arena in Preston. Sessions will run from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM on Thursdays only. Toilets and a café are available. We look forward to seeing you all after our lengthy absence. Wheels for All is a national accessible cycling charity which promotes inclusive cycling.

I have received many inquiries over the past weeks about when sessions will restart. Currently, we are aiming to resume in early to mid-June. The new sessions will be held at UCLan Sports Arena, off Tom Benson Way, specifically outdoors on the running track, on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00 to 13:30. Depending on the number of users, we may extend these hours in the future.

Parking and toilets will be available. Due to space constraints, we have had to limit the number of cycles we can offer. Everyone will get a chance to ride, but perhaps not for as long as in the past.

Thank you for your understanding. I will update you once I have confirmed dates.

Apologies for the very short notice.

All sessions are suspended until at least mid-May.

This is due to our relocation to UCLAN, as our current building is being redeveloped.

The short notice is because Preston City Council gave us hardly any notice. We ourselves have only had four weeks' notice and have been scrambling to make alternative arrangements.

Feel free to contact them to express your disappointment.

I will update you when I have more information.
