Are you set up to text 999 in an emergency?

It's a simple process and well worth doing - imagine trying to call 999 Police to get MR if you're stuck in a storm and can't hear anything or there's hardly any signal.

There's a link on our website (see graphic for link) but here are the steps. Please to sort this now as you MUST REGISTER YOUR MOBILE NUMBER before you can use it.

1. Register your mobile - Text the word 'register' to 999.
You'll need to register again if you change your mobile number.
2. Read the message - You’ll get an automatic text reply. Please read it all.
3. Reply to the message - Read the message and then reply by texting ‘yes’.
4. Get a 'success' text - You'll then get a text telling you that your mobile is now registered - or if there's been a problem …

If you're not sure and need to check if you're registered - Text 'register' to 999 and you'll get a message telling you if it's registered or not. Don't text anything else - there's no need to make a test call.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) online group course

Thursday 14th & Thursday 21st November 2024

9.00am to 5.00pm both days

£250 pp (all in, no VAT to pay)

Hi all
I have arranged for Jo Lindholm (https://respondermhfa.co.uk/about) to run a 2 day online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) group course on Thursday 14th & Thursday 21st November 2024.

Jo is an excellent teacher and her knowledge, experience and passion for the topic shines through her teaching.

Jo has a wealth of experience in the area of mental health, has taught Psychology in schools for over 13 years and is an accredited Instructor Member, approved by MHFA England to deliver Adult and Youth MHFA courses.

I attended this course with Jo a few years ago and found it incredibly valuable and informative. What I liked especially was the practical learning around the use of language and Jo's passion for positive psychology.

The course will be covering the updated MHFA England syllabus and now also includes a three-year ongoing support package by MHFA England beyond initial certification.

The MHFA England RRP is £325+vat per person if you attend as an individual. I am arranging this as a group course at cost price for £250 per person (or less depending on numbers).

The course won’t equip you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to recognise warning signs of mental ill health and develop the ability and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping themselves safe, as well as how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms.

Course Structure

The course covers 14 hours of content which will be delivered online on two consecutive Thursdays.

Learning takes place through a mix of instructor led training, group discussions, individual and group activities.

Each session builds on the previous, enabling the learner to gain confidence in supporting others with a Mental Health First Aid action plan.

Numbers are limited to 16 people per course so that instructors can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

Course Takeaways

This training will qualify you as a MHFAider® and you will receive a MHFA England certificate on completion of the course. There are no pre-requisites to attend but you should have a strong interest in the subject.

Everyone who completes this course gets:

A hard copy workbook to support their learning throughout the course

A digital manual to refer to whenever they need it after completing the course

A wallet-sized reference card with the Mental Health First Aid action plan

A digital MHFAider® certificate

Access to the MHFAider Support App® for three years

Access to ongoing learning opportunities, resources and exclusive events

The opportunity to be part of the largest MHFAider® community in England

If you would like to book a space on this course please DO NOT contact me via facebook but email me direct to: andrea@firstaidtrainingplus.co.uk.

I will then send you the booking and payment details.

If you are interested please register your interest early as it will only be viable to run if we have a minimum number of participants.
...and if you could share with those that might be interested as well that would be much appreciated too 😉.

Many thanks

Andy :-)

Home to people who want to grow and connect. Turn your challenges into growth and meet friends along the way.

This makes sense to me, also a reminder of all of the sides of life that I need to pay attention to. Anyone got other top tips for self care ( apart from going for a walk with a great bunch of women! Obvs).
