🌟 Celebrant Spotlight 🌟

Meet Jill Bolton, an Independent Funeral Celebrant who has been supporting families since 2019. 💐

After over 20 years as a Primary School teacher, Jill felt called to a new path, one where listening, compassion, and care are at the heart of everything she does. She even carried out her role throughout COVID, a time that reminded us all of the importance of being able to gather and say goodbye.

Jill describes herself as down-to-earth, warm, and friendly. 💕 She knows that while she might love to talk, her role is really about listening, making sure every family feels heard and every farewell reflects the life of their loved one.

✨ “I often have people say, ‘I could never do your job!’ The truth is, it is one of the most rewarding jobs anyone could have, and I’m proud to work alongside the wonderful team at Dignity.”

We’re so grateful to work with dedicated celebrants like Jill, who bring comfort, dignity, and personal touches to every service.

Have you ever noticed the Funeral Director walking in front of the Hearse and wondered why are they doing that?🤔

This is called 'Paging' (as shown below by one of Funeral Directors, Sarah with the help of Nelly, a much loved four legged family member).🐾

🎩Paging is the process of walking ahead of the Hearse and is done for a number of different reasons.

🎩Traditionally Paging is done to show respect, a symbolic gesture for the deceased on their 'final journey'.

🎩It's also done to clear the route, letting other road users know a funeral cortege is approaching and affording them time to slow down, stop or to allow extra room.

🎩It's generally done as the cortege leaves the funeral home, as the cortege arrives at the home address, leaving that home address and finally upon arrival at the service venue.

🎩You also may have noticed, that the Funeral Director will eventually come to a stop, standing to the side and as the Hearse passes they will bow or remove their top hat. The Funeral Director may also be joined by other staff members, Ministers/Celebrants at the service venue, who will, in unison, bow together - another respectful gesture.

🌟 Celebrant Feature 🌟

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Peter Smith, one of the incredible celebrants we work alongside.

Peter was inspired to become a celebrant following the passing of his mother 💜. With over four decades of experience in national sports broadcasting and journalism 🎙️, Peter brings a unique ability to capture people’s stories with accuracy, compassion, and respect.

His greatest priority is to portray each life with dignity and truth, while providing comfort, support, and confidence to families during some of their most difficult times. 🌿

We’re proud to work alongside Peter and celebrate the meaningful role he plays in helping families say goodbye in a way that truly reflects their loved one. ✨

🌷 What to Expect at a Crematorium Funeral 🌷

For many families, attending a crematorium for the first time can feel a little uncertain. We want to reassure you that the experience is gentle, respectful, and centred on remembering your loved one. 💜

When you arrive, family and friends gather together in the chapel. The service is led by a minister, celebrant, or chosen speaker, and can include music, readings, prayers, or personal tributes, all chosen to reflect the life being celebrated.

At the end of the service, the final moments are handled with dignity and care. The coffin may gently move from view, or remain in place, depending on the wishes of the family.

Afterwards, many families choose to spend time together to share memories, while arrangements for ashes and memorials are made in a way that feels right for you.

Every service is personal, but the heart of every crematorium funeral is the same, a chance to honour, reflect, and say goodbye with love. 🌸

If you’d like to know more about crematorium funerals or have any questions, our caring team are always here to guide and support you. 💐

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the talents of these budding artists 🎨 👏

Grandma was their everything , and they too meant the world to her ♥️

The creative grandchildren drew, painted and even crafted paper butterflies to decorate grandmas ‘forever bed’🦋

A truly personal act of love and appreciation for the lady she was and will be remembered as.
