This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, a time to remind our residents, families, and community that prevention and early detection can save lives.

Cervical cancer is often preventable with regular health check-ups and screenings. While some of our residents may no longer need routine screening, it’s still important to talk with your nurse or doctor about what care is right for you.

We also encourage families and loved ones to:
✔️ Support women in attending recommended screenings
✔️ Learn about the HPV vaccine for younger generations
✔️ Have open, caring conversations about women’s health

At Moor Park House, your health, dignity, and wellbeing always come first. If you have questions or would like to speak with a member of our nursing team, we are here for you.

💙 Together, we can raise awareness and support women of all ages.

Today was pure joy at our home 💙

We were so lucky to welcome some adorable Shetland ponies, and they completely stole our hearts. From gentle nuzzles to plenty of smiles and laughter, their visit brought comfort and happiness to us all!

Moments like these remind us how powerful animal visits can be. Thank you to everyone who helped make this unforgettable day possible 🐴

Special thanks to Simply Shetlands.

Great meeting today at the Skills for Care Registered Manager Network.

I have been the chair for coming up to 2 years now and it’s one of the things I look forward to the most every quarter.

Meeting other Registered Managers locally, sharing good practice, inviting along amazing guest speakers and having vital peer support.

It’s one of the extra hats I wear within my role at Moor Park House and networking is so important to be able to learn from other providers and implement change in the home, and see how changes may affect social care ahead of time.

Amazing turn out today with 43 other managers - thank you all for coming and huge thank you to Shout Connect Preston for a fantastic conference space and an easy experience!

We are collecting non perishable food for Luv Preston - a local charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people all year round.

The food donations will help people in need at what can be both a wonderful but isolating time of year for many.

There will be a red bin in the foyer of Moor Park House from Monday 15th December however if you wish to drop off before we will store this.

All non perishable items appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your kindness.

We are rated GOOD!

In November we had an unannounced inspection and our report has now been published.

It is an excellent read and goes into each KLOE in detail giving each quality statement a separate score. We were exceptionally close to Outstanding in three of the domains so our mission is clear for 2026!

A huge thank you to the entire team, our residents and our relatives and friends.

APPEAL FOR CRAFTY AND KIND PEOPLE!

We no longer have a stock of syringe driver bags, which over the years have been lost or were no longer fit for use. We have previously had lovely individuals make these for us.

A syringe driver is a way of administering medication continuously, often used in individuals who are end of life, palliative or simply this is the easiest and best way to ensure they have continuous medication administered.

They can be a bit cumbersome, due to the giving set being quite long. Therefore to prevent them being pulled out, or getting caught, we like to give a bag for them to be used with which enables residents to still get around and also be offered a little bit of dignity.

If anyone is handy and has any spare time to make us one or two of these we would be ever so grateful, as would our residents.

Please feel free to share far and wide - thank you!
