Since the Champion ceased to be published a couple of years ago many people, older people in particular, complain that they don’t get to know about people they know who have sadly passed away.
This may be true to some extent, but then not everybody read the Champion or the Obituaries so it relied on people that knew that someone had died to tell as many other people as possible.
Skelmersdale Funeral Notices is exactly the same. You can post an obituary, share on Facebook with your friends and relatives but it still relies on people spreading the word to others, older people in particular that may not be on Facebook, by word of mouth – just like it always has.
Funeral directors use online obituary websites to publish death and funeral notices – these are not free – an online listing on funerlnotices.co.uk will cost £36 – and an online listing and publication in a newspaper such as the Liverpool Echo will cost in excess of £132.
Skelmersdale Funeral Notices is free to use and because of the connection with Skem First which has 20,000 members, has far more local reach and is much more likely to be seen by people that live locally and need to know.

We sincerely hope that it is a long time before anyone has to use this page but it is here, and free to use when sadly, the inevitable passing of a loved one happens.
