The purpose built home, which first opened in 1990 and came under Springhill management ten years later in October 2000, has undergone extensive refurbishment and the addition of an extra wing. Birch Green is proud of its holistic, person centred approach to care and the people we support are encouraged to make the most of an extensive social programme drawn up by its permanent activities co-ordinators. Entertainment includes regular concerts, tea dances, quizzes, discussions and outings to local places of interest. A committed staff team - whose members are all encouraged to undergo extensive ongoing training - achieved the prestigious Investor in People GOLD award in November 2016. Residents can relax in their comfortable single rooms or in attractive communal lounges and a sunroom on the ground floor. For those who enjoy the fresh air, there are pleasant patio areas outside in the gardens. Situated just one mile from the centre of Skelmersdale and on a main bus route, it is convenient both for visitors and the nearby Concourse shopping centre, where able residents regularly enjoy escorted visits.

We enjoyed the many different flavours including mango, strawberry, peppermint, lemon and ginger but were in agreement you can’t beat a good old fashioned cuppa , served in a china cup of course ☕️ tastes so much better !

As we welcomed in 2026 , we sampled some New Year traditions from other countries.
Hogmanay started off followed by haggis and oatcakes , marzipan pigs for Germany 🇩🇪, round fruit for The Philippines 🇵🇭 , 12 raisins for Spain 🇪🇸 to eat at the chime of the bells .
And of course plenty of dancing , auld lang syne, singing and Scottish highland dancing .

Christmas is such a busy time of the year for everyone . The kindness and generosity that we receive at this festive time never ceases to amaze us 🥰

We welcomed Shoana as she spread her festive cheer and happiness 🎅🎁

We received care packages from Our Lady Queen of Peace High School, they sang traditional carols as they made their deliveries.

Handmade gifts are ready for Christmas morning from the children of Lathom High School .
