A new client has been suffering from migraines/headaches for many years, often becoming so debilitating she has to take time off work. No amount of medication, massage, acupuncture ect had ever eased her symptoms and she was at her wits end.

Using our NKT testing and protocol I found both her temporalis muscles and sub-occipital muscles overworking and her deep neck flexors underworking.

After releasing the overactive temporalis & sub-occipital muscles and activating her deep neck flexors she said it was as if a fog had been lifted and was pain free for the first time in years

I’ve been speaking to lots of people over the last couple of weeks who haven’t been able to hit the ground running and dive head first into their health kick, weight loss, new year new me New Years resolution.

Gyms are shut, you can’t participate in sports and splashing out on a home exercise studio is something that will have to wait until that lottery win comes in.

But not to worry, all is not lost....

Walking (not strolling) is a fantastic way to begin to achieve your goals, especially if you’re new to the world of exercise.

So dust off those walking boots, dig out your thermals & woolly hat and enjoy.

Lots of people have been getting in touch to ask if their appointments will still be going ahead or if they can book in for assessment/treatments in light of the lockdown measures.

Just to let everyone know that it’s business as usual. Physiotherapists are able to stay open and I’m here to help with all your aches and pains.

In my clinic I see a large percentage of sports men and woman who tend to ignore the importance of strength and conditioning & opt to participate in their chosen sports for all their training needs, however they are missing a trick.

Sports are repetitive & overuse injuries can often occur, additionally they require adequate strength in order to perform the task at hand.
Implementing a strength & conditioning programme into your weekly routine will help;

Strengthen supporting muscles Stabilise joints
Reduce the risk of injury
Even out muscles imbalances
Integrate functional patterns
Improve bone density
Improve power, speed & stamina.... The list goes on.

Instead of pounding the pavement or cycling another 40 miles for the 6th time this week, consider implementing 2/3 days of strength & conditioning training into your weekly routine. You will definitely get better at your chosen sport and your injury rate will reduce.

Do you have a BALANCED exercise programme???

According to the World Health Organisation 646,000 people die from falls globally & an astonishing 37.3 million falls result in injuries severe enough to require medical attention; those over 40 making up the vast majority of cases.

As we age our exercise emphasis changes, or it should. We still need to work on basis strength & conditioning but in order to maintain our quality of life we need to implement more accessory exercises than we did in our 20’s & 30’s.

Adding some balance training into your exercise programme is not just preferable but necessary to ensure a long, pain free & enjoyable life.

New parents & grandparents often attend my clinic with lower back pain. Although the reason for this varies greatly, after a little digging, it transpires that a large percentage of them always prop the bambino on one hip. Over time this can cause the pelvis to tilt, resulting in lower back pain.
Using the Neurokinetic Therapy protocol I often find the Quadratus Lumborum (QL) on the side the child sits overworking and the opposite QL underworking.
Once I have rebalanced this dysfunction their back pain goes. It’s then important that the parents/grandparents don’t return to their old ways and start to use both hips when holding the child to prevent their pain returning. 👶

A new client today said she’d been increasing her running miles over the lockdown period and now has a lot of knee pain, even when performing day to day tasks.
She pointed to an area at the front of her knee (Pes Anserinus) where 3 muscles meet (Sartorius, Gracills & Semitendinosus).
Using Neurokinetic Therapy knowledge and protocol I found her Semitendinosus overactive and Sartorius underactive.
Once I had addressed the muscle imbalance her pain was significantly better, limp gone and she was smiling once more 🏃‍♀️💪🏼

Over the last few months I have seen a big increase in clients with upper back & neck pain, the majority of which have reported that due to the lockdown situation they have resorted to using laptops at kitchen counters, coffee tables etc.
Firstly I talk to them about the “42lb head” and discuss the importance of improving their work day ergonomics, then we got down to the nitty gritty. Using the Neurokinetic Therapy protocol I found that most of them had very overactive upper traps and neck extensors & very underactive deep neck flexors.
Once I had released the over active traps & neck extensors and activated their deep neck flexors their pain significantly improved. 🙌

Many clients I see are chronically, mildly dehydrated and are unaware of the impact that this can have on their day to day life.
A human body is approximately made up of 60% water which is a surprisingly high number when you think about the body as a whole.
From organ & cognitive function to muscle function & repair, optimal water intake is essential for the body to run at 100% 💧

Lots of calls, messages & emails today from people asking if we’ll be shutting our doors on Thursday.
Not to worry folks there’s no need to reschedule or cancel your up coming appointments, we are one of the lucky ones and are able to stay open...for now. 🙌
And for those with a little trepidation about seeking out treatment in the current climate, we’re fully Covid compliant with procedures in place 👍

An interesting new client today... After adding to much weight to his bench press, he has been experiencing anterior shoulder pain and has been struggling to lift his arm into flexion (forward) and abduction (to the side). He’d been told that he had damaged his rotator cuff (He hadn’t).
Using Neurokinetic Therapy protocol, I found his Lat Dorsi to be neurologically overworking and his Pec Major clavicular fibres neurologically underworking. These two muscles oppose each other during flexion/abduction of the arm, this muscular imbalance is a recipe for shoulder pain and dysfunction.
I released the Lat & activated the Pec Major clavicular fibres... No more shoulder pain 🏋️
