"What's changed with Alcedo is that it's completely reliable."

For families needing consistent support, reliability is invaluable. Josie's family has been impressed with the care, noting that all our carers have been "absolutely lovely". That trusted partnership is how we transform lives.

💡 It's time to light up for safety! 💡

We are proud to support the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) and their amazing campaign, which is all about a vital road safety message: “Be Seen, Not Hurt.”

As the days get shorter, visibility becomes crucial for preventing accidents that can lead to acquired brain injury.

You can help spread this life-saving awareness! CBIT asks everyone to take a simple pledge - have a conversation with a child or young person about the importance of road safety and being bright when they're out and about (especially in the dark). Talk about why bright colours and reflective gear matter!

Let's make sure every child stays safe and seen.🧠 ⛑️

June 27, 2018 GloWeek 2025 will run from the 20th – 26th October 2025 This is your opportunity to get involved and to help raise awareness of being seen, not hurt when the days become shorter in the winter months. As the nights draw in, it’s important that we all stay safe by being seen, so we w...

She has agreed to share them with her carers over a cuppa too! ☕☺️

GloWeek 2025 is coming, and we’re ready to make it the brightest one yet! 🌟

From 20–26 October, we’re encouraging families, schools, and communities to help children ‘Be Seen, Not Hurt’ as the nights draw in.

This year’s simple pledge is to have a conversation with a child or young person about road safety and why it’s so important to be visible when out and about.

Find out how you can get involved, watch our e-learning session, and see which landmarks across the UK will be lighting up in support. 💛💜

Today is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day!

The theme for 2025 is "Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care."

Palliative care is about so much more than end-of-life support. It's a fundamental human right that focuses on improving the quality of life for anyone (adult or child), facing a life-limiting illness, addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs from the point of diagnosis.

On this day, we would like to thank the compassionate teams and volunteers who provide this essential care and advocate for a world where everyone has access to the comfort, dignity and support they deserve.

You can find more information about palliative and end-of-life care here https://alcedocare.info/4pK81sW

There is often lack of awareness that a palliative care approach can include home care – Cassie from our Complex Care home care team sat down to tell us more.

Mental health matters - every single day. 💚

Your mental health is more than a small part of your life; it is integral to every moment, affecting your motivation, your relationships, and how you see yourself. It matters on the busy, unpredictable days and the quiet, ordinary ones, too.

On World Mental Health Day, we would like to highlight the importance of prioritising our wellbeing. Taking care of your mind is vital for living a full life and inspiring a brighter tomorrow.💙

Check in with yourself and those you love today.

Are you aware of the hidden dangers of unregulated care?
In the past couple of months, we have heard horrible stories from people who have experienced unregulated home care services. It is clear that many people don’t know the difference between regulated and unregulated care and the article below highlights the main differences between them both and if saving money is worth the risk.

Here are some of the differences between regulated and unregulated care:
💙Regulated care is provided by care providers that are licensed and inspected by independent bodies (CQC & CIW), meeting certain standards of quality and safety.

🧡Unregulated care is provided by individuals or agencies that are not licensed or inspected. This means that there is no guarantee of quality or safety.

💙Regulated care includes personal care (dressing, washing, continence, or any medical care), complex care (stoma, PEG feeding, tracheostomy, etc.) as well as light domestic tasks

🧡 Unregulated care is limited to companionship and light cleaning, meaning that if your needs become more complex, your unregulated carer won’t be able to help, leaving you vulnerable.

We, at Alcedo Care, are proud to be a regulated care provider, ensuring that all our clients receive the best quality of care possible and to give a peace of mind to their family and loved ones.
