😶😶 Relationships can be hard with their ups and downs. Maybe communication isn’t happening or trust is being tested, perhaps there’s pressure from family or issues with finances. Maybe it’s about not having enough time in the day or you’re not feeling the way you used to about someone. Regardless of the reason - having a neutral place to talk through any struggles could help.

If you’re looking for someone to discuss your relationship with to resolve issues / find a path forward / obtain closure / speak safely (etc) then relationship therapy might be what you’re looking for.

Many people feel their past defines who they are or don’t know how to imagine their life without the past impacting how they present themselves to the world.

By letting the past define you you’re holding yourself back from who you are and enjoying the present/future.

By talking through your past in therapy you can unpick what you’re holding on to and why. You can also learn how to loosen your grip on things you don’t need to hold on to so tightly anymore.

😬 Fear is exactly what we think it is - it’s scary. We don’t like it because it doesn’t feel nice.

Sometimes fear takes over and suddenly we can become frozen/want to run and don’t really know how to handle a situation because fear/anxiety has set in.

By really understanding your fear/anxiety you can make way to start responding differently to situations you never thought possible.

💭 Therapy seems to be a bit of a question mark for some people as they’re unsure what to expect during the sessions or perhaps they’re confused about whether or not they’re “ready”. There’s so many questions you might have about the process too!

Therapy is personal to everyone but there’s some aspects that apply to us all (see the various pics for reference).

So, if you’re wondering if therapy is what you’re looking for then speaking to a therapist to see how they work might be a good idea to help you decide - no question is stupid and therapists understand it’s sometimes a nerve-racking experience for people to make contact.

😳 Needing to be in control of things might seem like a sensible option to ensure things go smoothly… But then when things feel like they’re out of your control it can make you want to grasp onto control things even more.

It can make everything spiral and feel overwhelming - when all you’re wanting and trying to do is get a little bit more control! This viscous cycle is infuriating isn’t it 🌀

Control is something you can let go of bit by bit, especially with the support of a qualified therapist who will help you to understand why control is such a biggie for you.

We sometimes operate using subconscious behaviours and don’t stop to think why or how those approaches were developed in the first place. They’re your behaviours so you have the power to take control of them rather than let them control you. 😊

🤔 When you’re “stuck” it can be so confusing because you can’t figure out what needs to change. Sometimes you’re actually stuck because you’re repeating old behaviours - and it’s not until you sit down and properly look at those historic methods that you might be able to find a way out.

A slight change in perception to something you didn’t realise you’re looking at in a particular way might be the key to make that shift.

Talking with a therapist in a safe and confidential environment about your behaviour is somewhere you can discuss all of these things at your own pace.

Whether you are a fan of the royal family or not, this statement from Queen Elizabeth II is something that might relate to you.

We are experiencing something that will go down in history as a time that people will always be able to recall where they were when a particular event took place.

People will react differently and people will feel a varying degree of emotions.

Grief is personal. It can stir up a lot of emotions and memories for people in a variety of ways.

Being mindful of each other is all we can really do.

🧐 Can you say you feel this way or does this feel unfamiliar/uncomfortable to think of about yourself?

Your inner dialogue has a lot to answer for when it comes to holding you back in situations! Sometimes it’s the opposite of a cheerleader and tell us the worst sorts of things about ourselves.

🤩 I’m not sure I can explain how far this client has come… They have literally transformed before my eyes via Zoom over the last year and it’s been the most honourable experience.

To say they’ve found their voice and learnt to trust themselves is an understatement.

From starting off feeling uncomfortable being vulnerable, to now improving their relationships left, right and centre by opening up bit by bit in therapy at their pace.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

😣 Anxiety is so f*%\ing annoying at times. Your memory of an event can purely be an emotion rather than anything about the occasion. Talk about not feeling like you’re in the moment!

That feeling of not having control of your emotions due to anxiety can be so disempowering and can leave you questioning every move you’ve made and dreading every next step.

Having a neutral person (like a therapist) to discuss things with can help you to see things differently without the guilt that anxiety sometimes makes you feel for talking about yourself with friends/family.
