Important Notice: Flu Vaccinations for 2025

We would like to inform you that Ainsdale Medical Centre will not be offering flu vaccinations to patients aged 18 and over for the 2025 flu season. This difficult decision was made due to the very low uptake of vaccinations at the practice last year.

Unfortunately, we incurred a financial loss as a significant number of patients chose to receive their vaccination from local chemists, after we had already purchased vaccine stock for our patient population.

We understand this may be disappointing to some, but we want to reassure you that we are still committed to ensuring everyone has access to the flu vaccine. We have coordinated with local chemists who are aware of this change and are prepared to vaccinate our patients aged 18 and over.

We will continue to vaccinate children aged 6 months to 17 years with long-term health conditions visit www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/child-flu-vaccine for more information.

Looking ahead, we hope to be able to offer flu vaccinations again in 2026, particularly if the vaccine can be centrally supplied and we are not required to buy in the stock directly.

Find out about the children's flu vaccine, including who should have it, how to get it and side effects.

Important Guidance: Rash, accompanied with with a fever (temperature), and generally unwell.

This could be a sign of measles, which is highly contagious and can pose serious risks, particularly to vulnerable individuals such as babies, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems who might be in the waiting room.

If the receptionist books an appointment, you will be asked to stay in the car on arrival and the clinician will text you when its safe to come in.

Please call ahead and get advice.
