The National AIDS Programme Secretariat was privileged to offer our services to the Office of the President and the Office of the Prime Minister.
This outreach aligned perfectly with our World AIDS Day 2025 theme “Communities Leading, Equity in Action.”

As we work toward ending HIV in Guyana, we remain committed to ensuring that everyone from community members to national leaders are informed, empowered, and actively involved in the response.

Thank you for having us and for supporting this important work. ❤️🩺

The team at the West Demerara Regional Hospital has officially commenced their World AIDS Day activities!
In keeping with this year’s theme, “Communities Leading, Equity in Action,” they have already conducted impactful sensitization sessions with police officers and hospital staff.

These sessions ensure that key community groups are empowered with accurate information on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and stigma reduction.
As a programme, NAPS remains committed to supporting our partners across the country as we continue to educate, engage, and strengthen our national response.

Together, we are building healthier, more informed communities — one session at a time. ❤️🩺

Thank you team WDRH!

All hands on deck as we commemorate our World AIDS Day activities under the theme “Communities Leading, Equity in Action.”

Our dedicated Social Worker, Mrs. Reshana Chester, continues to play an impactful role in this year’s WAD outreach. She has visited schools, health facilities and religious organizations, empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and others from HIV and other STIs.

Her efforts reflect the true spirit of this year’s theme—community leadership, inclusion, and equitable access to information.

Thank you, Mrs. Chester, for your commitment and service to the National AIDS Programme Secretariat and the people of Guyana. ❤️

Congratulations Dr Tariq Jagnarine! Making us proud wherever you go🥳

Dr. Tariq Jagnarine, Program Director at the National AIDS Program Secretariat, is currently in the United States as a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow, pursuing studies in Public Health Policy and Management at Emory University.

As part of the fellowship, Dr. Jagnarine recently participated in the 2025 Humphrey Global Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., held under the theme “Thriving Communities.” The event brought together emerging leaders from around the world to exchange ideas and experiences in health systems, education, and equity.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Jagnarine shared: “The Forum reinforced a simple truth — leadership transcends borders. It’s about empathy, collaboration, and the courage to create lasting impact in our communities. Grateful for this opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute among such remarkable changemakers.”

The National AIDS Programme Secretariat (NAPS) was pleased to participate in GuyExpo 2025.

In alignment with Guyana’s World AIDS Day 2025 theme, “Communities Leading, Equity in Action,” NAPS played an active role in educating the public on HIV and other STIs. As part of our ongoing prevention efforts, we created a safe and stigma-free space where individuals were encouraged to get tested and empowered to take charge of their health without fear or discrimination.

During the expo, the programme distributed hundreds of PrEP for S*x (Lash Bags), each containing HIV self-testing kits and essential prevention commodities. This initiative continues to give persons the power to know their HIV status, stay protected, and—where necessary—be linked to the care and treatment they deserve.

NAPS remains committed to strengthening community leadership and ensuring equitable access to HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services across Guyana.
