The AHPC was established under the provisions of the AHP Act 2010 as the regulatory body for health professions as specified in the first schedule, (see list).
The Council is appointed by Cabinet for a period of two (2) years and it operates as a body corporate. It consists of a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and nine other members representing the various professions. The Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Public Health serves as the Ex-Officio member. Other members are drawn from the Guyana Bar Association and the Consumers’ Association.
The Council is mandated to register and licence all professionals and assistants, to ensure:
· they are qualified;
· provision of a high quality of service and care to the public;
· standards are developed and maintained;
· provision for disciplinary actions for breaches as set out in the Act.

· Certified copies of professional certificates and Declaration Form must be stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace or Notary Public.
· 2 recent passport sized pictures
· Return completed application, along with payment receipt to the Allied Health Professions Council desk at the CMO Secretariat.
· Licence must be renewed by January 31stof every year.
Licences are renewable annually and are valid from January to December each year. Requirements for Licence (Renewal of licence)
· Fee: $2,000.00
· Application made after January 31, would incur late fee of $5,000.00
· Completed Application for Annual Licence to practice Form
· 4 CE CREDITS
· 2 recent passport size photos,
· Copy of payment receipt.
