“IN GUYANA, OPINIONS ARE FREE BUT THREATENING WOMEN SHOULD LAND YOU IN JAIL.”

This is not an opinion. It is a death threat.
Threatening a woman with violence especially using xenophobia and male supremacy is abuse and a crime, not free speech.
In my case, this person made a fatal mistake: I am Guyanese, and I am not powerless. I have resources, visibility, and the ability to protect myself and speak out.
But what about those who don’t?
The innocent women immigrants, refugees, and marginalized voices, who receive messages like this and are forced to live in fear and silence?
That is the real danger.
Let’s be clear:
Threats are violence.
Harassment is abuse.
Intimidation based on gender or origin is criminal.
This behavior should never be Normalized.
It should be investigated, prosecuted, and punished.
People who send death threats belong in jail, not hiding behind fake profiles.
Speaking up is not fear.
It is power.
