Due to the status red weather warning forecast for tomorrow, ALL our surgeries will be CLOSED.

In the event of an emergency, please contact 999/112.

Depending on the post storm conditions, access to power etc, we hope to open in the afternoon from 2pm in CARLOW and HACKETSTOWN.

We would advise patients to ring the surgery to confirm if we have been able to re-open on 059 91 33313 (Carlow) or 059 64 71319 (Hacketstown).

We will update our page tomorrow with further details.

Children's Flu Vaccine Clinics for 2- 17 year olds 2024

This year the HSE recommend that all children aged 2- 17 years (up to their 18th birthday) to be offered the flu vaccine.

Annual Flu and Covid-19 Booster Vaccinations Winter 2024



We are currently holding vaccination clinics in our Carlow, Hacketstown and Rathvilly surgeries.

If you already have an upcoming appointment with your GP or Nurse, there is no need to book into the clinics as you will have an opportunity to receive the flu vaccine/Covid-19 booster during your consultation.



We have also organised WALK-IN clinics in both



HACKETSTOWN AND RATHVILLY on Wednesday 9th and Wednesday 16th October 2024 from 2pm-5pm.



You do not need to book an appointment.





The following groups are eligible for the annual flu vaccine this autumn/winter-



-60 years of age and over

-Pregnant

-Aged 18-59 years old with underlying medical conditions

-Immunosuppressed ( due to medical conditions/due to medical treatments)

-Morbidly obese (BMI >40)

-Healthcare workers

-Carers/ Household contacts of people with underlying chronic conditions

-Working with pigs/poultry





A Covid-19 booster vaccine is also recommended for those who are-

-Over the age of 60 years old

-18-59 year olds who are immunocompromised or with significant underlying medical conditions

-Healthcare workers

-Pregnant ( ideally given between 20-34 weeks gestation)

Flu and Covid booster vaccinations are now available for those aged 65 years and over.

*Please note it must be at least 3 months since your last Covid booster and if you have tested positive for Covid-19 within the previous 4 months you will not be eligible for the booster dose at this time.

SPRING COVID BOOSTER VACCINATIONS MAY 2023

Covid-19 Booster vaccinations for OVER 70 YEAR OLDS are now available.

For patients who attend Hacketstown or Rathvilly, there will be a WALK-IN clinic in HACKETSTOWN surgery on

Wednesday 17th May from 9am-12pm & 2-5pm.

Please note it must be 3 months since your last booster dose/Covid-19 infection.

The HSE are also planning a winter campaign later this year to co-administer the flu vaccine and a further Covid-19 booster dose. We would strongly recommend that all our over 70 year olds get their booster dose before the end of May to avoid delaying the winter vaccinations which will likely start in September.

*1st booster doses are now available for ALL patients over 12 years old

**2nd booster doses available for all patients aged 18-49 years old (you do not have to have an underlying medical condition but it MUST be 6 months since your previous vaccine or covid infection)

- Aged 65 years and older and/or

- A Healthcare worker
- Pregnant
- Someone with a health condition that puts you at higher risk of flu eg immunocompromised
- Heart disease
- Lung disease
- Diabetes
- Chronic Kidney disease
- A carer for someone who has a health condition that puts them
at higher risk of flu.
- A worker in regular contact with pigs, poultry or waterfowl.
