Physio Face-Off

Hard to believe after 10 years of knowing and living with this man we’d be on opposite sides for a game!

Carlow v Wexford was a serious battle but thankfully came out on top of this one!

Injury recovery is not a linear journey, as much as we all wish it was.

Have you ever been on a rehab journey and everything seems to be going well, and then, slap bang! Things seem to be back to square one?

You are not alone!!

Some recoveries miraculously follow a linear progression; most do not. Most recoveries look more like the reality graph than our expectancy!

Trust the process, trust your body and focus on where you came from and not where you are now 🙏

*Open during level 5 restrictions*

Physiotherapy has been deemed an essential service in the current Level 5 guidelines throughout this difficult and scary time.

The clinic has been operating at a reduced capacity over the past 2 weeks, as we are all finding our feet. A number have people have been enquiring and we are open for physiotherapy and rehabilitation appointments, as well as facilitating online appointments.

We are adhering to stringent health and safety procedures including full PPE, Temperature testing and sanitisation. We are also blessed with spacious facilities to ensure social distancing.

If anyone has any queries feel free to contact me by email: info@nolanphysio.com, by phone 0857266683 or on social media.

If you are experiencing any symptoms please do not attend your appointment, self isolate and phone your GP for a COVID consultation.

Lastly, I hope you are all keeping well and are safe! If anyone needs any non-physio related help or someone to talk to please don’t hesitate to contact me! We are all in this together and we’ll come out the other side!

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all my patients and clients for your business and friendship over the past year!

I must have picked the strangest year to begin a business, but in true fashion noting I do is straightforward 😂

Happy Christmas to everyone and best wishes to you and yours! Enjoy the holidays and I hope to see you all in the new year!

Keep safe!

Low Back Pain!

One of the most common presenting conditions to physiotherapy clinics around the world is low back pain.

Despite how common this is, there is still massive amounts of misinformation spread in relation to LBP.

I’ve listed a small sample of some common myths in relation to LBP. It’s rarely dangerous and there are no quick fixes.

If you’re struggling with LBP contact a suitably qualified therapist that doesn’t offer crazy theory’s or who tries to take away the power you have over your own pain!

I’d you have any questions feel free to contact me here, on 0857266683 or at info@nolanphysio.com

🔑 Open for Business 🔑

Under new level 5 restrictions Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation services are essential services. The clinic will remain open for existing and new appointments, both in person and online.

This is as good a time as any to announce the new branding we have been working on! Nolan Physiotherapy and Performance will continue to cater for physiotherapy, rehabilitation and performance needs

I’d also like to take the chance to thank current clients for their support over a difficult 2020 for everybody.

Things are difficult at the moment and many people are struggling. If I can help in any way, whether it’s just a chat or something I can help with please don’t hesitate to contact!

Simple movement prep warm up used today in my session.

Little top ups like these can be a good idea for field athletes, especially during lockdown in order to maintain athleticism and for injury prevention. The promote efficient movement habits, improve force production from the ground and ankle stiffness.

I followed this up with x5 10m accelerations and x5 20m rolling starts. A combination of sprinting and ankle stiffness have been shown to massively reduce soft tissue injury, especially to the calf and hamstring.

Even better if you have a training partner like mine 🐶🐶

Any questions or queries drop me a line! Hope everyone’s keeping well and see you soon.

I’ve met a number of people recently who have been suffering from long lasting neck pain with associated headaches.

These headaches can be frustrating and can cause concern and stress for people. As they have often been bounced around the medical system, been scanned and medicated in many cases with no answers or clarity on the cause of their pain.

A cervicogenic headache is a pain that develops in the neck, though a person feels the pain in their head.

According to research by Jull et al, a 6 week physiotherapy program including manual therapy and exercise interventions was an effective treatment option for reduction of cervicogenic headache symptoms and decreasing medication intake in both the short term and at one-year follow-up.
