Are you wearing the right running shoes?⚠️

A simple yet effective way of preventing running injuries is wearing a good quality running shoe, especially when running on hard surfaces such as concrete. Hard surfaces cannot absorb the pressure readily, pushing the pressure back into your knees and joints.😁
Some of the benefits include:
✔️ Improved physical performance and body mechanics.
✔️Injury prevention such as tendonitis, stress fractures and joint pain.
✔️ Offer arch support, essential with people with flat feet.
✔️Reduces stress on the toes, ankle, knees and hips.
✔️ Makes running more comfortable and safer, especially on wet or uneven surfaces.

Not only do they provide cushioning for our feet on hard surfaces, they can also reduce stress placed on the heel, ankle and toes while also helping to protect our knees, hips and backs by improving body mechanics. It’s important to replace your running shoes regularly.😁

Do you suffer from aching knees, and joints?⚠️

By adding more essential fats such as omega-3 into your diet (or with a supplement) is a key nutrient every runner or anyone looking to improve their overall health should have in their diet.😁

Some of the key benefits include:
✔️Reduced inflammation – not only does it help relieve the symptoms of joint pain, can also in preventing it.

✔️Supports healthy bones and joints – helps increase the amount of calcium you absorb from your gut while improving the strength of your bones and synthesis of bone collagen.

✔️Pain management - omega-3 supplements are found to be just as effective as anti-inflammatory medication, with less side effects.

✔️Omega Deficiency, can cause hair loss, dandruff, difficulty in losing weight, dry skin, fatigue and brittle nails.

Adding good sources of essential fats such as oily fish, nuts, seeds, and avocados will mean your aching knees and joints will thank you for it.😁

There are vast amounts of benefits for group running. As it has been known to enhance an individuals athletic experience.💥

Running requires a lot of calories. The average 150-pound person will burn about 12.2 calories per minute running a 10-minute mile. Thus drastically reducing the risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease,

✔️Joint longevity Stimulation
A study has shown that running doesn't up the risk of osteoarthritis. It showed that runners were half as likely to suffer from knee osteoarthritis compared with walkers. Every time you pound the pavement, you stress your bones and cartilage, just like your muscles, causing them to spring back stronger.

✔️Increased Motivation
Healthy competition, when you're running with others, can encourage you to keep a strong pace. When running alone you may be tempted to cut your workout short, but trying to keep up with running partners can encourage you to push for the extra mile.

Are your joints operating efficiently, and necessarily.?⚠️

When a foot is not functioning properly in terms of alignment. This may place pressure stress on your joints, i.e knee. 💪

Bio-mechanical assessment is the process of analyzing the functions of lower limbs.

✔️Such as weak muscles on the outside of your hip can cause excessive loading of the inside of your knee. Especially when your out jogging or lifting weights.

✔️Our physiotherapist being able to identify if you have weak muscles, and if these weak muscles are causing excessive loading of certain joints.😁

Don't forget to building up weak muscles, before you exercise. The importance of executing a simple exercise like wall squats. Can be vital for protecting your joints for outdoor activities.💪

Wall squats strengthen weak muscles while doing a great job of helping to increase flexibility.

✔️Strengthening your legs with wall squats will improve your balance, which can make running much easier.

✔️They will also help runners increase their endurance level and be able to run hills with more power and ease.

✔️They are an excellent leg-strengthening exercise that works to make your leg muscles stronger.

With this exercise each leg separately the workload is evenly distributed so you are able to enhance your balance and stability.😁

How walking, or jogging makes us healthier, happier, and smarter.

According to Professor Shane O'Mara. The benefits of walking are vastly underappreciated.🔥

Here are some positive benefits to keep in mind while out walking or jogging this weekend.

Regular, up-tempo walking acts as a brake on the ageing of our brains. Walking facilitates creativity, improves mood, and sharpens our thinking. Aerobic exercise after learning actually enhances recall. Reliable, regular exercise produces new cells in the part of the brain concerned with learning and memory.:)

Movement - the output of the brain's activity - changes the dynamics of the brain itself. Movement is central to the ongoing activity of the brain: it changes, augments, enhances that activity.💪

Recent experiments show that walking increases the strength of the signals in parts of the brain concerned with seeing and other senses, such as touch.Walking is good for the body, good for the brain, and good for society at large.

If you require preparation for getting back into physical activity. Feel free to reach out to us, for your specified to your needs.⚠️

Understanding what the role of a physical therapist is.💪

Physical therapists are experts not only in treating pain, but also its source. We can look for areas of weakness or stiffness that may be adding stress to the areas most painful for you. We can also treat those areas with certain exercises to ease pain, and help you move better.😁

Starting in January, while out exercising, you can encounter individual stresses both physical, and psychological. So it can benefit people with chronic pain, or sudden repetitive strain injury. We can guide them to develop their skills, as they need to manage, and take control of their condition. Then an individual can therefore increase their activity, and improve their quality of life.🔥

For many individuals in January, they may be building further stress in their own body. With the introduction of vigorous exercises, in the gym, or running groups. This new commitment adds to increased tension within the body as repetitive occurrence intensifies relatively quickly, without proper maintenance, or preparation.✋🏼

At Body Kinetic, we can establish a suitable exercise or rehabilitation program to monitor your progress. While working with you to change patterns of activity which have led to the problem in the first place.

For physical assessments, and rehab guidance.😁

While preparing for running groups, and generally introducing more activity into your routine this year.❤️

It’s important to maintain physical activity and exercise as you age. Active seniors have different exercise needs than a younger population because of their medical conditions and past injuries. Niamh, our physical Therapist will educate, rehabilitate and even help patients move with less pain, and impact. 👉

Here are a few things to keep in mind, while out preparing for your 5K, or 10k this season.💪

Walking Benefits to keep in mind:✋🏼
Increased cardiovascular, and pulmonary (heart & lung)
Stronger bones and improved balance
Increased muscle strength, and endurance

Don’t forget to also drink enough water each day. As it is crucial for many reasons: to regulate body temperature, keep joints lubricated, prevent infections, deliver nutrients to cells, and keep organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves sleep quality, cognition, and mood.⚠️
