Four Lakes - The Beginning
The idea of Four Lakes Doula Care started after I had my first Daughter, I ran into breastfeeding difficulties and thought I knew where to go. Unfortunately I wasn't as prepared as I thought. My baby didn't latch and the only solution I was given was to pump or stop.
When I was pregnant on my second I said that it I’m going to learn everything I can. Determination is key.
I did a breastfeeding class with Cuidiu and I was on my way to fulfilling my dream of breastfeeding.
However my daughter Gemma was born with a life limiting condition and was never able to feed at the breast. She did however have my breastmilk for the 13 days of her life. This was a huge healing moment for me. Although she only lived a short time I fed her !! my milk - after a ceaarian, baby in SCBU, baby sent to another hospital 1.5 hours away while i was still in hospital myself and through her life journey in ICU. I fed her. The pride in myself was massive, I did it - I fulfilled my dream. A short lived one but still, and so I began my breastfeeding counselling training and Four Lakes Lactation was born. My new baby!
