🫁✨ How Bad Posture Impacts Your Breathing ✨🫁

Did you know your posture directly affects how you breathe? Here’s the science:

When you slouch or hunch over, your ribcage collapses, restricting your diaphragm – the main muscle responsible for breathing. This limits its ability to contract and expand fully, resulting in shallow chest breathing instead of deep, efficient belly breathing.

What does this mean for your body?
➡️ Less oxygen intake: Shallow breaths reduce the oxygen delivered to your brain and muscles, causing fatigue and brain fog.
➡️ Increased stress: Shallow breathing activates your fight-or-flight response, leaving you feeling tense and more anxious.
➡️ Weakened core stability: The diaphragm is part of your core. Poor posture weakens this system, leading to back pain and muscle tension over time.
➡️ Reduced athletic performance: With limited breathing capacity, your body struggles during physical activity.

💡 How to Fix It:
✔️ Sit tall, stacking your ribcage over your pelvis to allow your diaphragm to move freely.
✔️ Practise deep belly breathing: Inhale through your nose, let your belly expand outward, and exhale fully.
✔️ Strengthen your core with exercises like planks and side planks to improve posture and stability.
✔️ Stretch your chest and shoulders to release tension caused by prolonged slouching.
