The slow pace of winter, the cocooning the snow brings! It offers us a moment to drop behind the fast pace of life, set aside our FOMO and drop into stillness! When we slow down it can bring up uncomfortable feelings- a sense of I should be doing, maybe even accompanied by guilt, frustration, fear…. This in yoga psychology is Chitta Vritti.. or as one of my mentors described sh*tty vritti!
Chitta Vritti describes our minds fluctuations, Chitta: Refers to the mind as a whole, encompassing not just thoughts but also our emotions, memories, and the subconscious. Vritti: Means “whirlpools” or “modifications,” and represents the dynamic activity of the mind—thoughts, beliefs, basically our mental chatter.
Our mental chatter keeps us busy, in doing mode, acting out our deepest fears and insecurities. Slowing down actually takes patience and practice. We need to move past the mental chatter to allow ourselves to settle into the non-doing. In these moments we receive peace that accompanies letting go and separating from the fast world around you and dropping into the wisdom you are enough just being! Enjoy these sacred snow moments, allow yourself to slow down, receive and release. The true magic is you don’t have to do anything it all happens when the wisdom of your nervous system feels it’s safe enough for you to relax. If you’ve had a busy 2024 this may take some time! So send gentle compassion yourself in these moments 🫶🫶 and tap into the sweetness of doing nothing 🥰

Reminding you that just because a New Year starts it doesn’t mean the old you isn’t beautiful!
Here are a few things I’ve learned from 2024…
-🫶Manifesting or creating a vision, doesn’t mean it happens immediately. I’ve held so many visions in my heart and I laugh now at the expectation I placed on myself to achieve things in 6 months and 9 years later they are still ongoing. This slow process has taught me to embrace the journey and know I’m learning every step of the way. What I learn gets to be part of the next step making it more intentional and beautiful. So don’t rush yourself or place huge expectations on yourself- ultimately they can lead to burnout when the timing is not quite right! Trust the universe is bringing each step to you at exactly the right time for you 🥰
-🫶 trust, trust, trust! The hardest thing to do in life is to replace your fear or need for control with trust! But when you do… the beauty of life unfolds. Only can we see this beauty when we let truly let go, as life has plans in store for us that we don’t even realise.
🫶 embody who you truly are - BE YOU! Your true unique self is different from everyone else. In trying to discover who she is you may be looking to what others are doing, wondering is their version the right one for you. The more we look at others the more we can compare ourselves to others and their journey. This causes us to become disconnected, leading to confusion, frustration and ultimately feeling lost. But when you learn to sit with yourself, tune into those little sensations that tell you YES this is who you are or what you are meant to be doing the more aligned you become. Your heart, brain and gut feeling together, wiring together and connecting to your true spirit. Listen to that inner voice, tune out the noise and trust that the path unfolding in front of you is meant for you.
As you enter a new year, let your intention flow from your heart and make sure it FEELS GOOD for your entire body. My intention this year is to feel into the cycle of completion- what it means for me and feels like for me to finish projects I’ve been working on! Have you an intention this year? Let 2025 Be One of Reconnection 🫶

In the busyness of life, it’s easy for us to lose touch with ourselves and feel disconnected in our body. Our fast-paced schedules leave little time to pause, reflect, or process what we’re experiencing. This can build up within us—creating tension, unease, and even anxiety.

Yoga can offer us a path to come home to ourselves.
Through gentle movement and mindful breath, yoga teaches us to listen to our body’s whispers before they become shouts. It reminds us that every pose, every pause, and every exhale is an act of nurturing—a way to release what’s been held inside and make space for ease and clarity.

Reconnection begins when we step onto the mat, not to perfect poses, but to tune in to our inner world. It’s a space where we can feel what we need, process what we’ve been carrying, and respond with kindness and care.

Over time, many of us have become disconnected from our body and its innate wisdom, seeing symptoms as purely physical and something to be suppressed, managed or numbed. But what if those symptoms are your body’s way of speaking to you?

Your body doesn’t use words—it communicates through sensations: the racing of your heart, the tightness in your shoulders, or that gnawing knot in your stomach. These sensations aren’t random. They’re the result of an intricate dialogue between your brain, your vagus nerve, and your body.

This constant flow of communication shapes how your body responds to the world around you. Stress, for instance, can alter digestion, activate immune responses, and influence hormones. If stress keeps sending your gut into overdrive day after day, it’s no surprise when IBS-like symptoms develop over time.

Understanding the connection between your nervous system and your body’s signals allows you to nurture yourself in a way that builds resilience and fosters real healing. when you begin to tune in, to truly listen, you start to change the story.

Your body is always speaking to you. By developing curiosity you can begin to connect the dots between life, how you see it and how your body responds to it 🥰 let your symptoms be your guide.

Trust…. An important part of healing!
If you have a relationship with an animal, you know what it takes to build that trust. You observe their cues, you develop awareness whether they are happy or not, you get to understand its needs and overtime the animal feels safe and you create a bond. The bond deepens and overtime you develop wisdom, where without even looking you know what your pet needs!
Now imagine developing this relationship with yourself?
Imagine you got to know your own cues…
How your body spoke to you…
How your symptoms could guide you…
How to respond to those cues in a nourishing way!
Imagine having complete trust that you have your own back…
That you can provide for yourself the deep nourishment you seek whether physical, mental and emotional.
Your health depends on this relationship…
Along the journey I learned it was not my body letting me down but my lack of awareness in how to respond to my body.
For 20 years I’ve been listening to her, watching her transition through all the feminine journeys and I have so much deep respect for her. She has been through so much, learned so much and I trust her with every cell of my body.
You can too….
You just need to learn her language and it’s not in the western medicine world. Our modern medicine teaches us to cut the body in pieces, separate them out and lose the wisdom that comes from being whole!

Yesterday we crossed paths with many deer, but one particular part of the trail was quite close to this buck! The closer our steps got to him, the more I found myself asking questions.. “how will he react to the kids” “it’s mating season will he be angry” “is he scared of us” “it’s so noisy up here with people, how does he feel” I could feel my heart beating louder could he? And then we were there. Just beside him, observing each other gently without staring into each other’s eyes. I didn’t want him to feel my presence threatening but I couldn’t help taking him all in. He felt magical and mystical!
His presence had an aura, and I was reminded of yoga and how animals possess certain energies and characteristics. Emma Milton, spiritual author describes a deer as representing a balance between confidence and success, gentleness and grace. I felt all of that as we watched him grace gently, undistracted by the noise and surroundings. His confidence revealed as he went about his day, not changing or wavering by our presence. His grace in how softly he moved and yet his size and demeanour was all stag!
This is why I love nature!
If we listen and observe we can feel into its wisdom and be reminded that we too possess these skills. The challenge of any journey especially a health journey is to stay aligned with what you believe. Can you move forward with grace, gentleness and confidence on your own path without being distracted by the latest trends or getting caught up in a magic pill or potion?
Remember your body just like the deer has wisdom. Your body knows what it needs, just like the deer does not question when to eat or what to eat you can lean into this innate wisdom and begin to develop a confidence in your choices when you listen.

Sick Care vs. Health Care: Understanding the Difference

In our society, there’s a MASSIVE difference between sick care and health care. 🤔

🔻 Sick Care reacts when things go wrong—focusing on symptoms, treatments, and quick fixes after an illness strikes. It sees the illness and its symptoms as the source of what’s wrong, rather than indication of a body out of balance! It creates the mindset where our diagnosis becomes who we are Esther than part of our healing journey.

🔹 Health Care is proactive. It’s about nurturing your body, mind, and soul every day so you can thrive, not just survive. It’s creating a lifestyle that supports your well-being through nourishing food, movement, stress management, and self-care.

Naturopathic nutrition and yoga recognise that the body, mind and spirit together create the environment for health (or sickness)!
It is easier and sometimes nicer to pass our health issues and concerns onto someone else and then we have someone to blame when we don’t get well!

But the real truth is that everyday we are dealing with toxins, carcinogenics, viruses, bacteria etc and the balance of whether our immune system can deal with what is coming our way is down to a number of factors, with our body and its health being a huge part of this.

We can’t avoid the toxins - they are literally everywhere and now babies are being born with over 20,000 chemicals already in their body!!!
Our only solution is to be proactive, nourish our cells, support our elimination pathways to give our bodies the best chance! This is the true pathway of health! This doesn’t mean we don’t get sick but that we have the ability to bounce back and overcome health challenges. This takes getting to understand your body, its systems and how they work together! It takes getting to know how to nourish your cells and support detoxification.
