Lymphatic taping for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
Lymphatic taping for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) involves applying elastic kinesiology tape (like KT or Easytape) in specific fan-shaped or criss-cross patterns across your abdomen. This technique gently lifts the skin, creating space underneath to improve lymph flow, reduce post-op swelling, prevent fluid buildup, and minimize scar tissue (fibrosis).
Why Taping is Used?
Decompression: It elevates the skin, opening the anchoring filaments of your lymphatic vessels to drain excess interstitial fluid.
Shape Retention: It helps retract loose skin and prevents the hardening of tissue that can cause indentations or a “fibrous” feel.
Continuous Support: Unlike manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), which is done during specific sessions, taping works 24/7 in between your treatments.
