AMSI UL

AMSI UL AMSI (Association of Medical Students Ireland) UL acts to coordinate activities, projects and traini We are currently undergoing a massive structural change.

AMSI (Association of Medical Students in Ireland) is the NMO (National Member Organisation) which represents Ireland in the IFMSA (International Federation of Medical Students Associations). We act to co-ordinate activities, projects and trainings for Irish medical students, facilitate international collaboration through Professional and Research Exchanges, act as a united voice for Irish medical students on Public Health and Global Health matters and acts in an advocacy role to implementing change. We also collaborate with the IFMSA, giving Irish students an opportunity to influence these subjects on an international level. AMSI is currently still a candidate member of the IFMSA, we will be applying for full fee-paying membership with voting rights by August 2017. In the past AMSI was mainly focused on organising events such as Intervarsities and the Medical Case Competition. While we will still be organising these events, our focus has shifted as we plan for further collaboration and involvement within the IFMSA. The IFMSA has 6 Standing Committees and all their projects come under these headings:
1. Medical Education – SCOME
2. Public Health – SCOPH
3. Human Rights and Peace – SCORP
4. Sexual and Reproductive Health incl. HIV/AIDS – SCORA
5. Research Exchanges – SCORE
6. Professional Exchanges - SCOPE
AMSI is currently in the process of setting up committees under these 6 headings. Here at UL our plan is to organize and engage in several of these projects with the best interests of our medical students in mind. We currently have an AMSI UL Local Committee for 2016/17, which consists of the following representatives:

Co-Chairpersons: Ashlyn Fong, Victoria Griffiths
Liaison Officer: Natasha Khullar
Projects and Activities Officer: David Jack Solomon

Local Officer - SCOPH (LOPH): Nicholas Conradi
Local Officer - SCOME (LOME): Netusha Thevaranjan
Local Officer - SCORP (LORP): Mina Dawood
Local Officer - SCORA (LORA): Sonam (Nikki) Srivastava

Please contact us at amsi.limerick@gmail.com if you'd like to get involved, have any questions, or simply want to say hello! More info on the IFMSA can be found on their website http://ifmsa.org/
