I am delighted to share that I've expanded my team with this handsome fella, Mr Darragh, born on March 18th 🍀.

He requires a lot of training, so I'll be out of the office/clinic for the next few months. I'll have limited availability from the end of May and will prioritise existing patients.

I am so excited to team up with Juliette O'Connell .liette3016 of for a lovely evening chatting about Women's health on behalf of the Limerick Women's Shed next Tuesday, April 9th .

I met at the and instantly knew I wanted them to join me at the talk. So much can be gained for its' members when we partner up.

Juliette is so passionate about Breast Cancer and prevention, having lived through it herself. I look forward to complementing the chat with all things Skin.

✨Tear Trough Under Eye Rejuvenation✨

This procedure is an Advanced Aesthetic skillset.💉

The tear trough is the area directly under the eye that supports the eye muscles and fat, and serves as a transition zone between the eyes and the cheeks.

When this area loses volume (most times with age, but may also be genetic), the recess becomes more pronounced. This creates an appearance of dark bags and/or dark circles which gives a tired appearance to the face.

This patient in her 50's came in for an in-depth consultation. This procedure was something she never considered because it was never offered at previous clinics. Within 15 minutes, Dr Mai was able to fill out the hollowness and smooth out the delicate skin under the eye, giving the patient an instant invigoration.

✨Multi-modal Lower Face Uplift 💛✨

I always take great pride in my work but there are just some cases that you just can't wait to share - this is one of them!

This beautiful client in her 50s is someone that takes great care of her skin, however there was only so far good skincare would get her. She discussed her concerns in particular with her 'sailor's lip'. Otherwise known as cheilitis, it is a condition characterized by cracked, dry, and inflamed lips due to prolonged exposure to wind, sun, and saltwater. This had resulted in a loss of her lip borders. This, combined with the loss of volume/collagen caused by the aging process, ended in lips that were older than their chronological age.

So, what did I do? First, we wanted to address the peri-oral lines. Otherwise known as 'Smoker's lines', these vertical lines surround the mouth opening especially when we pout. By adding a small amount of dermal filler, we were able to smooth out these lines once we replaced the lip volume.
We complemented this with anti-wrinkle treatment which will work on relaxing the upper lip muscle.

Next, we lifted the hollowness of the 'Marionette Lines' which was pulling the corners of the mouth down. We added more volume to the lower lip but focused on rebuilding the deficient lower lip border.

And voilà 😘 we have an incredible lower face rejuvenation which has made a remarkable but natural difference.

Normally, this combined treatment could cost you over 650 at another clinic - lip filler, Marionette lines, and Anti-wrinkle to peri-oral lines but I don't believe in pricing this way. Get this face-changing procedure for 450 during our Summer Skin offer.

✨Upper Face Rejuvenation ✨

There are few treatments that give the same result as Anti-wrinkle treatment when it comes to the Upper Face. Most of our expressions come from the muscles that pull around the eyes and forehead, which leads to fine and deeper lines.

The aim of Anti-wrinkle treatment is to prevent dynamic lines (lines formed when we move our facial muscles) from becoming static lines (lines that are present at rest).

✨Pay for the skill, not the ml✨

Dermal filler and Medical Aesthetics as a whole has a very bad rap because of the amount of unregulated work happening (often in questionable 'clinic spaces'). Clients seek to achieve a certain societal norm and end up paying for the cheapest 'ml' they see advertised. Complications and poor aesthetic results occur because of cheap and poorly placed filler.

This client in her 60s wanted an uplift of her lower face that would make a significant difference yet still appear natural. She always wanted more volume in her lips but the marionette lines were also making her appear sullen.

After a thoughtful consultation with her, I offered her both treatments - lip augmentation and Marionette lines - which I knew I could achieve with 1ml. This aligned with her budget but also achieved the desired result without any compromises. Many other clinics would have charged for two separate procedures but that simply isn't the ethos I have at Mai Skin.
