BREAKING THE FAST

When reintroducing food after a fast, the formula would be one day of refuelling per three days of fasting.
A gentle approach starting with a ripe apple and then moving on day by day to more solid food is key to give your digestive system and enzymes a chance to come back to action. When I break my fast, I will give you more information.
For any questions regarding fasting or if you would like a medically assisted fast don’t hesitate to contact us!

DAY 9 of my January fast
EXERCISE
During a fast it is important to keep somewhat active. The energy supply that your body needs to provide also comes from glycogen in muscle tissue. In order to avoid loss of muscle mass they need to be used. Be mindful of what you are able for, rehydrate and be aware that you are physically and mentally detoxing. This might require letting go of unhelpful emotions comparable to the deep relaxing after a tough gym class.

DAY 7 and 8 weekend of the January fast
CONNECT TO YOUR INNER LANDSCAPE
Weekends on a fast can seem long and perhaps tempting around social activities and food.
However, it could be an ideal opportunity to tune in with yourself, either to sit in meditation or to go for walks where you will be more perceptive to the beauty of nature. Watch for yourself how finer you tune in and how different activities and the “undoing” of routine can benefit you way beyond a fast.

Day 6/7 of our January fast.
Many worry that a fast would hinder them to be productive at work and that they would feel weak and miserable. Prolonged fasting has the opposite effect as your brain gets constant fuel from ketosis, you have 30% more energy available as your gut is not working and the amazing brain produces endorphins. They have an exhilarating and mood enhancing effect.
Prolonged fasts also have an anti-inflammatory effect that seems so potent that research has found it prevents dementia and reduces arthritic pain.
Happy weekend everyone, good luck with your fast!

AUTOPHAGY
Day 5/6 of our January fast
In this video you will learn about the process of autophagy and how fasting does a deep detoxing, even on a cellular level. At the same time, this process also boosts your immune system. For more information on fasting, contact us on www.pmc.ie

FASTING HEADACHES
Day 4/5 of our January fast.
A headache can be a side effect of fasting due to the detoxing process of your body. This can be particularly triggered by a lack of fluid and can also occur as a sign of caffeine withdrawal.
If you are currently on a fast and need help, or if you are interested in learning more about a medically supervised fast, please contact us - www.pmc.ie

DAY THREE of 2024 fast!
Great minds think alike, as without knowing it, two in our team started a fast over the weekend. Having support during a fast can be essential as you will find many tempting situations. Sharing similar experiences and giving each other moral support are just some of the tools we can use for a successful fast!

DAY TWO of my January Fast
BREAKING HABITS
We often do not eat because we are hungry but because it is “time to eat”. A fast is a great opportunity to become more aware and to look at habits you would like to change. Great for a New Year’s resolution. It’s not too late for one. Thanks for your thumbs up
