🌹 We welcomed a very special visitor to St.Michael’s yesterday 🌹
Celine O’Meara, who is representing the United Arab Emirates in this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival (and originally from Caherconlish) very kindly took time out from her very busy schedule to visit our residents and share her warmth, beauty and musical talent with us all. Our residents had great fun preparing for Celine’s visit to us, making sashes, cards, rose drawings and dickie bows. Many thanks to all who made the day so memorable especially Patsy who played tunes on her accordion, to Seamus who took his ‘Escort’ duties and gave Celine a great St. Michael’s welcome and presented Celine with homemade card signed by the residents and staff (surely Seamus is in line to win ‘Escort of the Year!!). A big thanks also to Pat Hourigan (husband of our staff member Anne) who shared one of his own poems about Caherconlish “The Fairy Fort of Pust’ and which we read to Celine and also for his history story of Caherconlish.
The residents were extremely excited to have met Celine and cannot wait for the Rose final in August. We hope you win Celine and come to visit us again as the winner of the Ross of Tralee 2025 🌹👑❤️

Congratulations to Anne Hourigan and her husband Pat on their milestone wedding anniversary 😍🥂

Sincere thanks to the extended family of the late Nora Higgins who very generously donated this fantastic garden bench and Robin in Nora’s memory to the Home. Our longest stay residents, Michael and Patsy are the first to relax on the bench. Hopefully the sun will keep shining and all the residents will have the opportunity to relax in the sun and take in the beauty of our garden☀️

Our residents are the best!! No issue with the bus was going to stop the residents making the most of the glorious weather and re-organising themselves to set off to Bunratty Folk Park for the day. “Michael the Jolly Fiddle Player” welcomed us with great tunes while we enjoyed our picnic. We strolled through the park and seeing the old school, houses, bikes and animals brought back many happy memories for the residents and sparked lovely conversations. We enjoyed a spectacular detour to Dromoland Castle enroute to a delicious lunch at The Inn in Dromoland. Our beautiful nurse celebrated her birthday on the day and is now on her way home for her upcoming wedding. Great memories from a fantastic summer day out🥰 ☀️ 🏰 🧺
