Mantra Meditation & Mindfulness

Helen Morrissey runs the classes and she is a JAPA meditation practitioner & has studied spiritualism for over 15 years both here and in India. Helen works primarily through the heart in her teaching and healing. She shows students how to quieten their minds and helps them to rediscover an inner joy and sense of fun with her wise words and anecdotes. Her presence and hands on healing provide a comforting mothering essence; and her strength in mantra enables her students to transform their lives. Helen also uses movement (Tai chi/Chi gung) with her classes to release unwanted emotions. She believes that healing occurs when we shift our focus from our past hurts to the joys in our current lives. Helen also practices polarity healing which is a unique and powerful balancing system with techniques aimed at integrating our physical, emotional and mental well-being. So what is Japa Mantra Meditation? It is a style of meditation that uses sounds and mantras to calm the mind and energise the body. Participants sit together and repeat powerful chants out loud that have been used over the centuries to increase the vibration of the body. This energising process allows healing within the physical, emotional and mental areas of your life to occur. Reciting mantras can bring positive life changes. It brings awareness of your own behaviours and thought processes. This allows insights and understandings of the current problems in your life, giving tools to ‘Help You to a Newer and Better You’! Mindfulness is the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment which can be trained by meditational practices. Japa appeals to all ages and our classes usually have a healthy mix of the young to the not so young, creating a fun community of like minded people.
