Fantastic tips

Newborns have little stomachs and breast milk is easily digested, so feed your baby often. The recommended way to feed your breastfed baby is on demand.

Amazing

Wow.

2023 has been a whirlwind thus far. I attended two beautiful births on New Years Day...and work hasn't slowed down ever since. Jenn and I have collectively attended 14 births since January 1st...and most of them have been fast and then faster!

Jenn walked into a few of her clients crowning...and I've had my share of 4 hour births (my absolute favorite length...if I actually got to choose!)

But all those fast births mean we'll certainly have some long births in the weeks and months ahead. And while it's always challenging to be away from home for that long...there is also something almost meditative about a birth that stretches from day into night and often into day again.

I'm always amazed by the resilience and strength of the human body. Of both parent and baby. They are working together to accomplish this huge goal - and the work can sometimes be long, hard, beautiful.

Fast births are fun - a jolt of adrenaline - but long births invite us to slow down and practice patience. Important lessons for all birth workers (and humans too!)

This image is from one of my fast births on New Years Day. I walked in and my client was working so beautifully with her family surrounding her. We attempted to get the birth pool filled up but there wasn't enough time. And so she calmly birthed her baby right into her own hands. Her first boy after two girls. A surprise! And a big one too. Well over 9 pounds.

Jenn and I are also so excited to start with our new Essence of Birth cohort Tomorrow. We've had over 60 folks from around the world sign up, and we can't wait to meet everyone and learn together. We still have a couple of spots if you want to join us. Get started on your payment plan today...and start dreaming about the births that you'll be attending in the months to come.

PS. The Video Course WILL BE LAUNCHING SOON! When we're not at births, we've been working on this course. We can't wait to share it with you!

6 weeks old on the left, 30 weeks old on the right. It’s been 6 months. Six months since I was allowed to breastfeed my son. Six months of a hard battle against , getting poisoned with chemo that tainted my breastmilk and prevented me from nursing my infant son. Six months of pumping every few hours and dumping every single ounce of it all down the drain, just so I could keep my supply up, in hopes of eventually being allowed to nurse my baby again. Six months of having a dear, sweet, generous friend come to my house 1-2 times a week to latch my son, just so he would remember HOW to breastfeed again when I was able. Well, here we are, I had my last chemo session in January and it’s been 35 days post-chemo. My breastmilk no longer contains any remnants of chemo in it, and last night I was able to MY SON AGAIN!!!! It’s been a long road, but I wanted to share my journey publicly in hopes that it can be shared and might inspire others in some small way. 💚 God is GOOD. The power or prayer is REAL. 💚 **Photography credit for the image on the left: **

Today we are highlighting our recent themes of the Month.

This stunning image is by BBY Certified Birth Photographer Mother Wolf Birth Photography

Tiarra shared this image and these lyrics with us for the theme “Infinite”.

Each week, in our Facebook group for professional birth photographers around the world, we have a photo “theme,” and photographers are encouraged to share images that resonate for them.

We are blown away by the images photographers share as well as inspired by their perspective of the theme and photography techniques.

We hope these images help tell the many stories of birth.
