Happening this THURSDAY 💛

We’re coming together for our next Youth Hauora Network hui at the
📍 Silverdale Rugby Club
🕤 9:30am – 11:00am

This one is all about “supporting the supporters” - our amazing volunteers, mentors, and the people who show up every day for our rangatahi.

Across our community, there is so much wisdom in the room… so this is a space to come together, share ideas, and learn from each other.

We’ll be diving into things like:
✨ How we recruit volunteers
✨ How we support them well
✨ What helps keep them coming back
✨ How we upskill and grow our people

We’ll also hear from the team at the Silverdale Rugby Club (and hopefully Volunteers Auckland 🤞) before opening up for shared kōrero.

💛 Come along
💛 Bring your team
💛 Bring your stories

This is going to be a really special one.

We can’t wait to see you there 💛

How did everyone go over the weekend?

Storms can be a lot - not just physically, but emotionally too.
Disrupted sleep, stress, messy homes, worried kids… it all adds up.

So this is your gentle check-in:

👉 How are you doing today?

If things feel a bit off, that’s really normal.
This week might be about resetting slowly, not jumping straight back into everything.

Some simple things that can help:

Get outside for some fresh air (when it’s safe) 🌿
Check in with your friends and whānau - even just a “hey, how are you feeling?”
Tidy one small space (not the whole house 😅)
Catch up with a friend or someone you trust
Take things a bit slower than usual

And if things feel a bit bigger than that - please don’t try to carry it alone.

There are people available 24/7 who are there to listen and support:

Need to Talk? 1737 (call or text anytime)
Youthline
Lifeline Aotearoa

Be gentle with yourself this week.
Check in on your people.

We’ve got each other 💛

You’ve probably heard there’s a big storm rolling in this weekend.

We’re not here to panic you - but we are here to say:
let’s be smart, look out for each other, and stay safe.

A few simple things to keep in mind:

Stay inside if you can 🏠
Charge your phone + devices 🔋
Bring pets in and make sure they’re safe 🐾
Tie down or bring in anything that could blow away (trampolines 👀)
Avoid the beach, rivers, and flooded areas 🌊
Check in on your friends, whānau, and neighbours 🤍

If you’re out and about this weekend - have a quick think:
👉 “Am I actually safe here?”

And if things feel a bit overwhelming, stick close to home and your people.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down, stay home, and ride it out together.

We’ll keep sharing updates and support where we can.

You’ve got this and we’ve got each other 💛

Good Swings, Great Cause.

What a great day out supporting Youth In Transition. Doris was proud to sponsor an event that mixed good competition, great people, and a shared commitment to helping young people thrive. From the first tee to prizegiving, it was all about community, connection, and making a positive impact.

Such a cool moment for the network a few weeks ago! 🎙️

W***y jumped on the radio with Nick Rado from MoreFM Rodney, alongside some awesome young people from Ōrewa College, to kōrero about what’s happening for rangatahi on the Coast.

There’s something pretty special about hearing young voices shared out into the community like this - real stories, real perspectives, real experiences.

Big thanks to the team at Ōrewa College who came along and represented - this is how we keep growing a community that listens to and supports its young people 💛

You might have heard Liv chatting on this week about how we can support our young people by doing daily check in's over the school holidays

Liv and chatted about using Te Whare Tapa Wha as a scaffolding for conversations with our young people, check out some of the helpful ways young people can support their whole whare/body these holidays.

If you’ve got rangatahi in your world - this is one to know about 👇

Ballers Night Club is creating a safe, fun space for young people on the Coast to hang out, connect, and just be themselves.

W***y recently chatted on the radio with Nick Rado, alongside local legend Caitlin from Coast Community Trust and Ballers Night Club, about how important spaces like this are for youth wellbeing.

A place to go.
A place to belong.
A place to have fun in a safe environment.

We love seeing spaces like this growing in our community and supporting our young people in such a positive way 🙌

Keep an eye out for their upcoming events!

The Youth Hauora Network is more than just a network - it’s a community 🌿

We’re a collection of youth organisations, community groups, schools, and spaces that support not just young people, but the whānau around them too.

What brings us together is simple:
We care about young people on the Coast, and we want to see them supported, encouraged, and thriving.

Our monthly hui are open, welcoming spaces where people can connect, share what they’re seeing, and support each other in the mahi.

If you’re working with young people, supporting whānau, or just passionate about youth wellbeing - you’re always welcome in this space 💛

One of the highlights from our last Youth Hauora Network hui was hearing directly from rangatahi 🌱

Students from Whangaparāoa College and Ōrewa College Enviro Groups shared how being connected to te taiao supports their hauora - and honestly, it was pretty inspiring.

From hands-on environmental action to creating spaces of calm, purpose and belonging, their kōrero reminded us how powerful it is when young people are given opportunities to lead and connect.

A big thank you as well to Enviroschools for sharing the wider impact of this mahi across our communities.

This is what the network is all about - listening, learning, and backing our young people 💚

There’s something really special about gathering together in a space that’s built on connection 🤍

Last week, the Youth Hauora Network came together at Te Herenga Waka o Orewa, and it was one of those hui that just felt… good.

We were warmly welcomed onto the marae, took time to whakawhanaungatanga, shared kai (yes, the scones were a highlight 👀), and spent time reconnecting with both familiar faces and new ones.

These hui are a reminder that this network isn’t just about services - it’s about people.
People who care deeply about young people and whānau on the Coast, and who are showing up to support each other too.

So grateful to everyone who came along and helped create such a welcoming, generous space 💛
