"ACL INJURY"
An ACL injury is the over stretching or tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the knee. A tear may be complete or partial.
Causes:
An ACL injury can occur if you:
🔹️Get hit very hard on the side of your knee, such as during a football tackle overextend the knee joint.
🔹️Falls during down hill
🔹️Accident
Basketball, football, tennis , volleyball, soccer are common sports linked to ACL tears.
Grade:
🔸️Grade I
A mild injury that causes only microscopic tears in the ACL. Although these tiny tears may stretch the ligament out of shape, they do not affect the overall ability of the knee joint to support your weight.
🔸️Grade II
A moderate injury in which the ACL is partially torn. The knee can be somewhat unstable and can "give away" periodically when you stand or walk.
🔸️Grade III
A severe injury in which the ACL is completely torn through and the knee feels very unstable
Clinical features ACL:
🔹️Pain with swelling within 24 hours
🔹️Loss of ROM
🔹️Tenderness along the joint line
🔹️Discomfort while walking
🔹️Feeling or hearing a ”pop” sound in the knee at the time of injury
🔹️Sudden instability in the knee
🔹️Limited knee movement because of swelling or pain.
