Since its establishment in 1901, Sian Chay Medical Institution has been providing free traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) services to the poor and needy. From just four staff members serving a few dozen patients a day, Sian Chay has grown into one of Singapore’s most significant charitable institutions — with 14 branches across the island, 95 staff members, and around 1,000 patient visits daily.
Beyond TCM consultations, Sian Chay also offers a variety of community courses, distributes goody bags, and organises activities benefiting tens of thousands of low-income families and seniors. But did you know? Sian Chay has also mobilised over 10,000 volunteers to distribute more than 400,000 handmade carnations, promoting the value of filial piety. Each year, it hosts music sharing sessions that bring joy to thousands of elderly guests.
Sian Chay’s compassion transcends nationalities, dialect groups, and communities, with its charitable outreach extending across Singapore.
