Some of life’s most important moments are not seen. They are heard.

The voices, the emotions, the little sounds in between, they all come together to create experiences we hold onto for life. Because hearing changes can happen gradually, they are easy to overlook until those details begin to fade.

Regular hearing care and check-ups ensure that you continue to hear well for as long as possible while preserving the richness of every conversation and memory for tomorrow.

This World Hearing Day, take charge of your hearing health and schedule a check-up with us:

Think of hearing aids as glasses: not a cure but a correction technique. 🦻

While hearing aids are one of the most common and effective treatments for hearing loss with users experiencing drastic improvement in their hearing, they do not fully restore hearing to a “normal” level.

What they do is amplify and clarify sounds, helping you understand speech more clearly, stay engaged in conversations and move through everyday environments with greater ease.

Hearing loss affects everyone differently so hearing aids are customised to your specific needs. To learn more about them:

If you have ever inhaled a helium balloon, you know you would end up sounding high and squeaky like Mickey Mouse. But do you know why? 🎈💬

Firstly, helium does not actually change your vocal cords. What it does change is the speed of sound. Helium is much lighter than normal air so sound waves travel faster through it, altering the resonances of your voice which makes your voice sound higher-pitched.

Your vocal cords are still vibrating at the same pitch, but the way the sound resonates changes what others hear. While inhaling a small amount is harmless, it is best not to breathe in much as it prevents oxygen from getting to the brain.

Curious about the state of your middle ear? Tympanometry could give you some valuable insights! 👂🔍

It is a simple, quick and non-invasive test that checks how well your middle ear is functioning by gently changing air pressure in the ear canal and measuring how well your eardrum responds.

Unlike audiometry, it does not test the ear’s sensitivity to sound or the hearing threshold of the patient. Instead, it is an objective assessment used to detect fluid buildup, infections or eardrum perforations.

Think your ears could use a check-in? Book a tympanometry assessment with us today:

Firecrackers, feasts, gatherings and late nights. Chinese New Year is always loud, joyful and full of life! 🧨🏮

But all that celebrating can take a toll on your ears, nose and throat. It is no coincidence that many people experience fever, cough or sore throat after the festivities.

These post-celebration discomforts may seem inevitable but it does not have to be! With simple, mindful habits such as taking breaks from loud noise, staying well-hydrated and getting enough rest, you can enjoy the celebrations while keeping discomfort at bay.

Most importantly, listen to your body! If you are experiencing any ENT symptoms, do not hesitate to get in touch:

You know when you are in love when your heart skips a beat…and suddenly you cannot catch your breath!

Whether it is first-date jitters or everyday pressure, emotional stress and nervousness can affect the way you breathe. The feeling of breathlessness often happens when the body goes into “fight or flight” mode intended to increase oxygen flow for action.

Even though shallow, rapid breathing can be part of romance, ongoing discomfort from it should not be ignored.

Reach out for a proper assessment so that you can breathe easier in love and in life:

Ever wondered why helium makes your voice sound squeaky? 🎈

It’s not your vocal cords changing, it’s the air speeding up sound waves.

Why does everything suddenly smell bad, even things you love? It could be PAROSMIA!

A condition that distorts your sense of smell, parosmia usually occurs when your scent-detecting neurons have been damaged due to:
➡️ Bacterial or viral infections
➡️ COVID-19
➡️ Head injury or brain trauma
➡️ Neurological conditions

While usually temporary, parosmia can cause severe weight loss or anxiety due to food aversion. Even so, recovery is possible with the right assessment and targeted treatment.

Do you often reach for a bag of lozenges the moment you feel a tickle in your throat?

While throat lozenges can temporarily ease soreness, irritation or dryness, they do not address the root cause of an infection. Relying solely on lozenges can mask symptoms and delay proper diagnosis and treatment or even secondary infections.

So if your throat discomfort lingers or worsens, stop turning to the lozenges for quick relief and instead consult our experts for early evaluation to receive effective treatment and lasting relief.
