Overuse injuries to the muscles and joints can occur due to repetitive motion and improper techniques.
Signs and symptoms include: numbness, swelling and gradual inability to move the affected area as you once could.
How can we prevent this?
* Condition and pace yourself; take breaks
* Ensure you have proper form and gear
* Warm up before embarking on the activity
* Gradually increase its intensity and duration
If an overuse injury is suspected, see a doctor immediately and allow your body ample rest. Your doctor should clear you for activity once healed.
