Meniscus injury is a common sports injury that athletes are prone to getting, particularly those in contact sports.

Treatments for milder cases include:
* Resting and protecting the injured knee
* Reducing pain and swelling with medications and/or a cold pack
* Physiotherapy to facilitate healing and strengthening of the knee

In more serious cases, surgery may be needed to remove or repair a torn meniscus for optimal recovery.

One telltale sign of a hand injury is a tingling and numb sensation in the palm or fingers.

To prevent the occurrence of such injuries while cycling, take note of the following:

1. Observe your grip on the handlebars - it should be firm yet relaxed.
2. Change hand positions periodically.
3. Keep the wrist straight while cycling.
4. Wear padded gloves or handlebar tape to minimise pressure.

A hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to examine the inside of the hip joint.

Hip surgery can also be performed arthroscopically, which is preferred over traditional open surgery because:
* It causes minimal trauma to the joint
* It is usually done on an outpatient basis
* It has a short post-op recovery period
* It can slow the development of arthritis
* It reduces the need for hip replacement

A neck sprain is not to be confused with a neck strain!

A neck strain, or "whiplash", is usually caused by a heavy impact or sudden trauma.

A neck sprain, however, occurs when muscles/tendons that connect the muscle to the bone become damaged.

This can happen due to overuse. Should you experience neck pain that persists despite sufficient rest, seek orthopaedic medical attention.

Here's what to look out for, for possible rotator cuff problems:

* Restricted movement due to pain
* Limited range of motion in the shoulder
* Trouble reaching overhead/behind the back
* Weakening of the shoulder

Orthopaedic treatment aims to increase mobility and stability of the shoulder, reduce pain and inflammation, or as a last resort, to repair the joint surgically.
