Dr. Phi is giving us a look at his own retina to demystify the imaging process.

This high-resolution scan reveals the intricate architecture of a healthy eye, from the natural “dimple” of the fovea to the “all-green” indicators on the health map. In the world of optometry, green means your vision is on the right track.

Understanding your scans is the first step toward proactive eye care. Take a closer look during your next check-up; there is a wealth of information behind every image.

Prostaglandin Analogues are a class of glaucoma treatment eyedrops. Though it can help lower the Intraocular pressure, it can also cause some “panda eyes” and “sunken eye” appearance aka PAPS (Prostaglandin-Associated Periorbitopathy Syndrome).
This simulator highlights the awareness which can be reversible/reduced by changing to another class of eyedrops

Dr. Phi is sounding the alarm on the “silent thief of sight.” 👁️ Since glaucoma often has zero symptoms until it’s too late, he’s showing exactly how specialized screening technology can catch early peripheral vision loss before it becomes permanent.

With cases expected to double by 2040, Dr. Phi emphasizes that waiting for symptoms isn’t an option, early detection through eye pressure checks and visual field tests is the only way to protect your vision. Don’t leave your sight to chance; stay ahead of the curve and get screened.

Seeing lasers in eye care might sound scary, but the OCT scan is actually one of the safest and most helpful tools we use.

The OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) machine uses a gentle scanning laser to take detailed images of the inside of your eye, like a “world map” of your retina. It shows the optic nerve, the retinal layers, and even the macula, the part responsible for your sharp, high-quality vision.

These images help us check if everything looks healthy and spot any early signs of eye conditions before symptoms even show up.

Ever wondered how doctors know exactly what lens you need for cataract surgery?

Dr. Phi walks through the detailed measurements taken before treatment, from the curve of your cornea to the length of your eyeball and even the thickness of your natural lens.

These numbers help determine the degree of myopia or astigmatism, check the health of the cornea, track stability, and guide the exact lens power needed for cataract surgery. Every detail matters, and the measurements never lie, even past LASIK procedures show up through axial length.

Sunglasses may look stylish, but not all of them offer real UV protection.
Dr. Phi shares how different lenses perform using a UV lens meter, showing which ones truly keep your eyes safe.

When choosing eyewear, always look for verified UV-blocking lenses to ensure proper protection against harmful rays. Your eye health should always come first.

Not all itchy or irritated eyes mean dry eyes.
In this case, Dr. Phi shares how a patient with persistent itching and “dryness” wasn’t actually lacking tears at all, the real issue was an allergy.

Materials like nylon from pillowcases or soft toys, as well as common triggers like dust mites, can cause eye irritation that regular lubricating drops can’t fix.

If symptoms don’t improve with usual eye drops, it may be an allergic reaction that needs proper evaluation and medicated treatment. Always consult your eye care specialist to find out what’s really causing the discomfort.

Dr. Phi shares a story about a patient who thought there were tiny “organisms” living in their eyes. Turns out, they were just floaters, a common change in the eye’s gel.

A reminder that floaters are usually harmless, but a sudden increase means it’s time for an eye check.
