Common question from patients: "How do I cleanse/detox/flush my liver/gallbladder?"
They read on internet about concoctions/recipes that flush out the toxins (in the form of stones). Some tell me "Doctor it works!! My friends tried it and they passed out many stones!"
What it does is not detox. It forces the stones out from the gallbladder into the bile duct and hopefully down the intestine. However, sometimes the stones get stuck where we don't want them, like this patient's x-ray showing a stone jammed in the gallbladder outlet just next to the bile duct. This leads to severe gallbladder infection, and emergency surgery is needed. The surgery becomes more risky because it is so close to the bile duct.

If you have gallstones, do not try these internet remedies. Seek help from medical professionals instead.
