While occasional constipation is a common issue, chronic constipation can lead to more serious complications if left untreated.

Persistent straining and hard stools can cause:

Diverticulitis refers to the inflammation or infection of diverticuli—small, sac-like pouches that form along the inner wall of the colon.

Asymptomatic cases typically require no treatment while mild cases can often be managed with antibiotics and bowel rest.

However, if symptoms persist or complications occur, surgical removal of the affected bowel segment may be necessary to prevent further damage.

Liver cancer often progresses silently in its early stages. That is why regular screening every six months is strongly advised for individuals at high risk, which include those with hepatitis B infection, liver cirrhosis or a family history of liver cancer.

When detected early, liver cancer is far more amenable to curative treatments, including surgical resection of malignant liver tumours before they progress or spread to other tissues and organs.

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵.
• There are more than 2 million new cases of hepatitis every year.
• Every year, more than 1.3 million lives are lost to hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
• Hepatitis is the leading cause of liver cancer.

A common condition experienced by many of us, haemorrhoids (piles) are abnormally enlarged blood vessels in and around the a**s, which can cause pain, itching, bleeding, or a feeling of a lump in the a**l region.

Depending on the grade of the piles, treatment may involve dietary changes to reduce bowel straining, rubber band ligation to restrict blood flow and cause the piles to shrivel and fall off, or surgery to remove the piles or pull up the pr*****ed piles to their usual position.

A hernia occurs when an organ or tissue pushes through a weakened area in the surrounding muscle or connective tissue.

Once formed, a hernia will not resolve on its own. Timely treatment is important to prevent complications such as obstruction or strangulation.

In the long run, with recurring episodes, chronic pancreatitis can develop, and in turn, increases the risk of pancreatic cancer. It is often caused by treatable common conditions such as gallstones.
