They know why they tolerate less than they deserve.

But knowing the pattern is not the same as interrupting it.

A lot of emotional suffering comes from negotiating with reality.

You see the pattern.
You feel the distance.
You notice the inconsistency.
You know the effort is not mutual.

But because the truth hurts, you keep looking for exceptions.

A good day.
A soft message.
A tiny sign.
A temporary moment of closeness.

And suddenly the pattern gets dismissed again.

Therapy often helps people stop building hope out of exceptions and start trusting the pattern.
