We have company!

Introducing Dr Lim Wanyi - a truly dedicated paediatric dentist with a passion for ensuring children's dental health and well-being.

Dr Lim has a wealth of experience following her scholarship with the Ministry of Health and 12 years with the Health Promotion Board’s School Dental Service in Singapore. As Deputy Director of the Student Dental Centre, she spearheaded many public health initiatives to improve the oral health of children and youth in Singapore, including dental screening and toothbrushing activity in pre-schools! She also currently holds a teaching position in the postgraduate Paediatric Dentistry programme at the National University of Singapore.

A mother of 3 young children herself, she finds immense fulfilment in being able to share her oral health tips and experiences with families. Most importantly, she hopes to be able to transform dental visits into positive and pleasant experiences.

Glad to have her on the team!

That moment when your child excitedly replies with a ‘YES!’ when asked if he wants to floss his teeth 🥹 ⁣

Besides brushing twice daily, it is a good habit to floss daily too. You can also consider using tape floss which is gentler on the gums!⁣

𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 ⬇️⁣

𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦: Wrap the floss around both your middle fingers, then use your thumb or index fingers to gently slide the floss in between your child’s teeth.⁣

𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: Your child should be lying down, with his or her head in between your legs. This way, you get the perfect view of his or her teeth! ⁣

Try flossing for your child today. It is never too early to start practising good oral hygiene habits! 😊⁣

P.S. We are now also open for appointment bookings at The Woodleigh Mall #02-23!

Fluoride, fluoride, fluoride. Truth is, brushing our teeth with toothpaste achieves two goals:⁣
1. Application of fluoride⁣
2. Mechanical removal of plaque and food particles on our teeth⁣

Fluoride is a preventive agent that helps to protect our teeth by preventing caries. ⁣
Here are some basics you should know about fluoride, including how much to use for your child!⁣

Did you know it is largely believed that kids in prehistoric times likely did not suffer from tooth decay because sugar was not a part of their diet? It’s no secret that what we put inside our mouths has an impact on our dental health.

Besides limiting children’s intake of sugary foods, juices, sports drinks and sodas, here are some other tips you can follow to prevent tooth decay in your child.

Growing teeth is clearly hard work, and potentially discomforting for a child. But while teething has long been said to lead to symptoms like high fever, diarrhoea and rashes, they may not be true.

Studies have shown that while babies may develop a slight fever on the day a tooth erupts, other symptoms are likely simply signs of illness that happen to occur while a baby is also teething. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Swipe through to bust some misconceptions with us, and be sure not to brush aside some of these wrongly assumed health symptoms due to your child’s teething.

A dental clinic holds many objects that might seem strange and intimidating to a child at first – especially if they’re going into the child’s mouth!

Use this graphic to familiarise your child with the tools that they’re going to see in a dental clinic. You can print an A4 version from the link in bio and go through each item with your child. This will also give you the chance to discuss what they’ll experience at the dental clinic and address any of their questions or fears.

Tips:

Use the term ‘Tooth counter’ to describe the dental probe’s job of counting teeth!
Simulate the sucking sound of the saliva ejector and describe it as a tiny vacuum that draws in saliva!

The toddler years are a precious time when our children still rely on us to care for them, yet at the same time are learning how to do things for themselves.

As you help to brush your child's teeth, be mindful that they’re using you as an example as they pick up their own toothbrushing skills!

Remember these tips when brushing your toddler:

🦷 Place a rice-grain sized amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush
🦷 Guide your child by holding their hand, or let them brush first before finishing up
🦷 Ensure you cover all surfaces of your child’s teeth – both inner and outer, and all the way to the back of their mouth
🦷 Don’t hesitate to make it fun! Sing a song or do a little dance so your child has something to look forward to

Note: Your child will need your help to brush their teeth up till they’re around seven years old!
