Melasma is a fairly common and also challenging condition to manage. Its multi-factorial causative nature, unpredictable response to therapy and at times recalcitrant / stubbornness - makes it frustrating. Sometimes Melasma is also seen as a mixed picture pigmentation complex - combined with other forms of pigmentation due to ageing and sun exposure, which makes it even harder to treat. But all is not lost. There are multiple treatment modalities that can help you navigate this skin concern. The key is being patient, consistent with treatment schedules, and allowing the condition to play itself out while we attempt to get it to quieten down.
