Did you know that regular screening plays a crucial role in preventing and detecting cervical and ovarian cancer at an early stage? By identifying abnormalities or potential signs of cancer, these preventive tests provide a golden opportunity for intervention and treatment, leading to improved outcomes.

Let's explore two commonly used screening methods for cervical and ovarian cancer:

🌸 Pap Smear and HPV Test: The Pap smear is a routine screening test that involves collecting cells from the cervix to detect any abnormalities. Additionally, the HPV test identifies the presence of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) strains that can cause cervical cancer.

🩸 Transva**nal Ultrasound and CA-125 Blood Test: These non-invasive tests are commonly used for ovarian cancer screening. Transva**nal ultrasound uses sound waves to create detailed images of the ovaries, while the CA-125 blood test measures levels of a protein often found in higher amounts in ovarian cancer.

The frequency of cervical and ovarian cancer screening varies based on individual factors, including personal and family medical history. Remember, early detection is key when it comes to these types of cancer.

Schedule your appointment today for ovarian and cervical cancer screening with Dr. Koh Cheng Huat: https://tinyurl.com/drkchbio. With a sub-specialty in gynae-oncology and expertise in surgical management, including radical hysterectomy, debulking surgery in ovarian malignancy, and video laparoscopy surgery for gynaecological cancers, you will be in safe hands.

Maintaining proper hygiene is crucial for your overall health & well-being. Abnormal va**nal discharge should never be ignored, as it may indicate an underlying health issue.

Here are some key points to keep in mind:
✨ What is normal va**nal discharge? ✨
Vaginal discharge is a natural occurrence in women. It consists of a combination of bacteria, mucus, and cells from the va**na and cervix. Normal discharge is usually clear to white in color and has a mild odor. Throughout the menstrual cycle, it may vary in consistency and amount, typically becoming thinner and clearer around ovulation.

❗ What is abnormal va**nal discharge? ❗
Abnormal va**nal discharge can be a sign of infection or other health issues. The characteristics of abnormal discharge may include:
🔸 A strong, unpleasant odor
🔸 Change in color (e.g., gray, green, or yellow)
🔸 Thick, lumpy, or cottage cheese-like consistency
🔸 Itching or burning in the va**nal area
🔸 Pain or discomfort during s*x or urination

If you experience any of these symptoms, it's crucial to consult an obstetrician and gynecologist (O&G specialist) for evaluation and treatment: https://tinyurl.com/swcmgappt
