Can VR help screen for early cognitive decline? 🧠 The answer: Yes, and with 88.9% accuracy according to our latest research findings!

Introducing Cavire-2, an innovative virtual reality tool that is revolutionising how we screen for mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This pre-dementia condition affects 1 in 8 people in Singapore, making early detection crucial.

Developed in collaboration with FXMedia, Cavire-2 transforms cognitive assessment by immersing users in familiar Singaporean settings - from HDB homes to local supermarkets. Users complete everyday tasks like grocery shopping and money handling, while managing real-world distractions such as background noise. This unique approach evaluates six key cognitive domains, including memory, attention, and social cognition.

The groundbreaking research, led by SingHealth Polyclinics' Clinical Associate Professor Tan Ngiap Chuan, Director of Research, and Research Officer Lim Jie En, shows that Cavire-2 offers more practical insights than traditional paper-based tests. As Singapore's population ages, this innovative screening tool which is currently being developed and tested could be a game-changer in primary care cognitive assessment.
