🤩👏🏻 Check out this study by Dr Toh Ming Ren on the association between weather, air quality and asthma-related emergency department visits!

PSI-ED association peaked on the same day of exposure but was no longer significant after adjusting for demographic and clinical factors. Pollution-linked festivals, transboundary haze and the Northeast monsoon were associated with increased asthma ED visits.

🌟Endobronchial Ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is the gold standard in invasive mediastinal staging for lung cancer.

Together with collaborators from Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School’s Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovation department and SGH 3D printing centre, Drs Melvin Tay and Eugene Gan from the department of respiratory and critical care medicine have developed a novel 3D printed EBUS-TBNA trainer which replicates the key vascular anatomical landmarks in the mediastinum and endo-sonographic appearances of lymph nodes essential for accurate invasive mediastinal staging.

This model was recently trialled at our Thoracic Oncology Review and Update course from March 6-8, involving multi-disciplinary faculty from our thoracic community. We look forward to further collaborative efforts to enhance endoscopy training for the pulmonologists of the present and future! 🤩👏🏻

🎉🎉The inaugural Critical Care Heart Ultrasound Course held at Changi General Hospital (CGH) successfully concluded last weekend on 7 March 2026! 28 participants went through an intensive full-day programme that aimed to equip ICU practitioners with essential image acquisition and interpretation skills for point-of-care focused cardiac ultrasound in critically ill adults. The balanced combination of theoretical lectures with hands-on practice created an invaluable learning experience allowing participants to develop competencies ready for immediate clinical application.

✨✨ On 29 November 2025, our SingHealth Duke-NUS Lung Centre Research Symposium brought together over 70 clinicians, nurses, academic partners and industry collaborators for an engaging and impactful programme with the aim to strengthen our respiratory research community.

Programme highlights included insightful keynote presentations by Prof Tony Huang and Assoc Prof Robert Tighe from Duke University, our invited panel of experts sharing on research-relevant topics as well as interactive breakout sessions sparking conversations on future respiratory research and transformation.

Whether seasoned researchers or newcomers to the field, we hope everyone had connected with like-minded colleagues and advanced individual research aspirations. The foundation built today will certainly shape the future of respiratory research in our community.

Thank YOU to all speakers, participants and partners who have helped make this Symposium an overwhelming success! 🌟🌟
