Pre-Planning your afterlife.
Day 1 or 1 day of your afterlife troubles?
Preparing for your death, although this might sound like a taboo subject to talk about. Many Singaporeans failed to plan for their afterlife resulting in confusion and conflicts between family members on asset distributions and decisions on funerals.
Today i will list few items which you can prepare before your eternal rest.
1. Deciding on a Funeral director.
This will be the guy who your family members will go to upon your death. He will be the one to settle your funeral style and preference if you have made a plan
2. Details of the wake
This will be handled by the funeral director if you have already state your preference. You would need to decide by this stage, the religion, the number days and style. Prior to the wake, your family would have very little time to settle these preference for you. As every one in the family would be very emotional on your passing, arguments will be very common. By reducing the amount of work on your family members, you can help ease some stress on them.
3. CPF nomination
Well, needless to say, if you have worked at some point in your life. you will have some CPF monies to distribute. So why is this also important is because If there’s no CPF nomination made, the CPF savings will be transferred to the Public Trustee’s Office and distributed according to the rules in the Intestate Succession Act.
So your family members will be to go through much paper work to be able to collect your CPF
4. Making a will
This will save your family time and effort in getting what they deserves. This will also prevent conflict over certain assets as you would have already made it clear who to receive what. You can either engage a lawyer to do this or the easiest way would be through OCBC online will generator.
Alternatively, to save all the trouble. you can engage the service of an afterlife planner to help you with your afterlife planning and peace be upon your soul.
