Very honoured to have artist Navin Rawanchaikul run a portrait drawing workshop with our seniors, staff, and volunteers at the club!

Navin is a Thai contemporary artist known for his large-scale, community-driven artworks that blend painting, installation and performance. During his session with our seniors, he shared past projects that explore themes of identity, drawing from his Indian-Punjabi heritage and experience growing up in Thailand. He is currently involved in a research project that uncovers the stories of lesser-known communities in Singapore.

We loved the way Navin engaged with our folks, teasing out their life stories in such a respectful, empathetic and sincere way.

Special thanks to the team at including Alicia, Sze Ying and Anissa for co-organising this workshop. We look forward to your next visit!

Field trip to !!

Unexpected learnings from the trip. We have 2 former golfers staying with us, one of whom was a local champion! Also, who knew Macs is really for all ages? Everyone had their favourite order there.

One sport they forgot to mention was everyone's favourite...shopping😁

Field Trip!! Auntie Annie and Uncle Lee opened up their home (and garden) for us to visit

✅Learnt from Uncle Lee that community garden water is free in a certain part of Bedok (not elsewhere😜)
✅Made Soon Kueh (always thought all seniors love it....apparently some don't😲)
✅Enjoyed a wonderful lunch prepared by Auntie Annie's Aunty Squad (ft. Cereal prawn, nonya chap chye, etc)

Thank you Auntie Annie & Uncle Lee for your love and hospitality! Let's make home visits a thing😁

Play Day with Kathy was a blast, with seniors participating in a hilarious face-swap game, Bird-O-Poly, Jenga and more! Welcome as well to our new friends Christabel and Keziah, and welcome back to Jeza and baby!

A visit to our volunteer Kathy's museum of curiosities!

Our folks shared their own memories of the memorabilia Kathy collected over the years - vintage oil lamps, Nyonya baskets, old bicycle honks, antique irons, while listening to The Platters and Teresa Teng on vinyl.

We were treated to a yummy Filipino lunch and spent the afternoon playing Congkat with seashells.

Thanks Kathy for opening up your quaint little home to us❤️

Did someone say Cherki?

One can get addicted to this mahjong-like card game, played by Peranakan households from dawn to dusk, sometimes with bags of cash by their side 😮 Some even gambled their children away in the past when they had no more chips left...oh dear. Taught to us by the wonderful Benita and Pat, who gave us an entertaining history of the game and how it has endured through the generations...Cherki!!

Our senior's valiant attempt at recreating Kueh Salat recipe from the legendary ! Making this iconic kueh brings back memories for one of our seniors Mary, who learnt it from Lee Kuan Yew's mother herself at her famous cooking classes. The blue tinge comes from Bunga Telang or blue pea flower, which has blood pressure improving qualities. That's a reason to have another slice!
