APPEAL FOR INFORMATION: HIT-AND-RUN AT WOODLANDS

The male brown dog, circled in the video, was struck by a taxi on Sunday 4 August at 10:27pm, along Admiralty Road West, near the junction of Woodlands Avenue 8. The driver did not stop to render assistance and the police are currently investigating.

The driver with the footage called SPCA and our rescue officer brought the dog back to our clinic. Our veterinary team attended to the dog and found that his hind area was paralysed. X-rays revealed a fracture of the spine. A group of rescuers have transferred the dog to a private clinic for further assessment.

SPCA is appealing for the taxi driver and eye witnesses to step forward, including the driver of the silver van. If you have any information, please contact the SPCA at 6287 5355 ext 9 or email inspector@spca.org.sg. Information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence. We are also hoping for information from the taxi company.

The Road Traffic Act states that drivers who hit a dog and fail to stop and render assistance can face a fine of up to S$3,000 or a jail term of up to a year.

SPCA FLAG DAY 2018

This June, join us in helping our shelter animals and supporting the animal welfare cause, by volunteering for our annual Flag Day.

As this important fundraising event falls during the school holidays (Wednesday June 13), we are not expecting many volunteers, and will need all the help we can get. We hope that you and your friends can take a tin and collect donations in the Central Business Districts (CBD), as a large lunch crowd is expected.

Tin Collection Points:
- Ang Mo Kio MRT
- Jurong East MRT
- Somerset MRT
- Tanjong Pagar MRT
- SPCA HQ (50 Sungei Tengah Road Singapore 699012)

If you are unable to help in this way, please show your support by saying ‘hi’ to our volunteers and dropping your loose change into the donation tins. Every cent counts!

Value In Action and Community Involvement hours will be given to any students who participate.

You will have to be 15 years old and above, to take a tin. If you are below 15 years and would still like to help, please ask a friend or family member to take a tin and accompany you.
